Some more peasants have joined the painted ranks of my army. Here's 10 archers, plus 4 lots of defensive stakes:

After a while without any painting motivation, I managed to drag myself back to the desk and paint up 10 Bretonnian archers. These were from the 5th edition starter box that I got as a kid way back in 1996! It feels great to finally have something from the box painted up, even if the sculpts aren't great.

I painted up a test model for my Lizardmen warband for Mordheim. It's entirely 5th edition metal models, so I wanted to try a more old school colour scheme and something very different to my main army.

Ah, the 5th Edition saurus, when they looked more like monitor lizards rather than dinosaurs. Wish GeeDubs had stuck with that...

Yeah... the saurus bone crown is the part of modern saurus I like the least...

Looks good. Maybe change the eye colour a tad, it blends a touch with the green flesh. But otherwise I see no issue with a warband in that scheme.

What eye colour do you think would look good? I usually use yellow on my purple lizards but with the green I don't think it would stand out.

My go-to for green scales is red eyes, but I can understand that for some people red eyes are overdone.

Blue maybe? The exact shade would need to be worked out, but I'm picturing either temple guard or thousand sons blue.

I might give blue a try. I want to stay away from red as that seems too similar to Orcs and Goblins.

Understandable. I tend to think of lizards as green scales and red eyes, but that comes from a childhood pet (a Chinese Water Dragon) that formed the picture of what the default appearance of lizards are in my psyche.

Only other advice I might have is to look at images of real lizards for inspiration. Sometimes nature provides the best ideas.

Yellow like Flash Fitz will look good imo, if you look at my post I use it, although my lizards are turquoise not green.

My starting Lizardmen warband for Mordheim is finished. I'm really pleased with look of these old 90s models. My lore for these guys is that they are from the Southlands and have been dispatched to Mordheim to investigate the Chaotic influence of wyrdstone.
    Here's the whole warband:

This is the leader, a Skink Priest:

Here is the priest's guard, a Saurus Totem Warrior with the Mark of the Old Ones:

Here are the other two heroes in the Warband, the Skink Great Crests:

Next we have the muscle, two Saurus Braves:

And then we have two groups of Skink Braves to round out the warband:
