Discussion Feathered Jumpy Creatures

Oh ... well then I don't really need either special rule, neat ;) thanks for pointing that out.
Am I still thinking earlier ed. When I believe skirmishers are at -1 to hit, when shot at?

If they weren't I think some of my friends would have done better in shooting phase, then the case is :p in any case it's not my fault I'm so convincing on rules that is no more/never was. ... skirmishers not the only example (even if I were right ) :D

OT: the rule for skirmishers was one of my earlier ideas for these guys, so it's good to know that it still follows the rule I had in mind.

I must say I like the terror bird or giant raptor as a model best. Though the concept would fit better with feathered raptors, that model just seem uncanny. Something about the head....

Thanks I should perhaps look into if any of my mates would like to play test them, now with all this new AoS. Perhaps they are more than willing to accept new stuff into the oldhammer system, knowing we won't see anything like it for some time ;)

the Terror Birds. many of these animals might live in Lustria, alongside the big saurians

Must bring in @gb2098 and FOR SCIENCE!

terror birds would make a good mount for Amazons, IMO. there was a miniatures company (maidenhead models, IIRC) that used to make amazon terror bird rider minis in 28mm.

...domestication has some weird fenotypical side effects.

Apparently the genes that are bred for, less feral is closely connected, at least when trying to breed animals, with a couple of other genes. That is the gene, which also makes the animals slightly less intelligent, which is quite interesting since we humans probably think that animals staying with us are smarter than the wild version. Also the gene for curly tails are more likely to occur, has a weird side-effect.
Some of what I have read differs ^ from this.

But what I have read about this concerned dogs and foxes. I think that the bottom line is-will-Be: Humans have bred for different traits in different species. Cattle must have been deliberately bred to be stupid-dumb. Dogs far far less so. (And it varies by breed with dogs.)
