I know there is an army list section but hear me out :P - that's all very nice for saying which models you have and what you're equipping them with etc. I'm talking about like a feature where you can tell everyone exactly what models you own and how many - something easy to update and track from your user profile - Don't even know if it is possible. I mainly say it because I keep updating my blogs first post as an army list to keep track of what models I have.

So you want a spreadsheet feature adding to the user profile?
 
More a list than a spreadsheet :P I dunno how it'd work but something with check boxes - and a number entry field might make tracking easier but I don't know if theres any call for it other than personal need :P

I'd say it's a personal thing but people do like lists.
 
Lists are life.

I would love this feature. I mean, I could just used a spreadsheet to keep track of what I have BUT having this as a feature would also inspire forum interaction through a) aid in general army building (what should I get next?), b) aid in army list making (i.e. what should I use?), c) inspire for greater army heights. A general tick list would be nice, the ability to share/embed it in a post would be nicer.
 
So instead of say a poll for the general public, you could put one up on your profile, maybe with a quantity. Interesting concept.
 
Proposal:

while we wait for the new feature, in the meantime we could open a dedicated thread: each one interested in it, will post in the thread a list of owned models (type and quantity).
At that point, you just have to insert in your sig. a direct link to your post in the "list of models thread".

Thoughts?

OK, I've opened a dedicated thread in the General Hobby subforum. Let's see how it goes. ;)
 
But is it painted-only or just minis owned?? Because the difference could be quite significant :joyful:
 
It's up to you, I think...
Of course, for official tournament, unpainted models are not usable, so it could be nice to know. ;)
 
Disclaimer: I been thinking of creating a website with something similar which may have some overlaps, I hope this is not a problem.

I am not a mod or admin of this forum, so I cannot help you implement it here. I could help with a BETA app or something that later someone with more skill can turn into an addon to the forum. It would have to be on a separate website because its safer for everyone, we don't want to accidentally delete the forum :D We would lose all our post counts :D

Information that we could find interesting is:
Total amount of models
Oldest Models
Latest Model
Quantity of each model
% Painted

To create an image of this information what do you think of a bar that fills when your whole army is painted. Then the user could have a few sections that he could customize with what is the most interesting for him. For some could be latest model painted, latest model bought, and WIP.

Would anyone be interested in something like this?

I will try to write a post about other idea, so we can decide if we want to work together or in parallel.
 
Sounds cool.
After all, mine is just a collection of lists, but this would be more like a real feature
