Sorry but painting looks horrible, try to improve in every way...

What the hell, you don't say that to people. Thats just rude. If you have nothing constructive to say, then say nothing at all. Everyone has to start somewhere, and I think it is great that he can post the pictures of his work because it allows people to give specific and useful advice on how to improve. I notice now you left a better post on the second page so I will leave it at that.

@chunky, people have already said all that I would have been likely to offer. I don't know if this has been said, but I suggest starting the bone areas with bleached bone rather than skull white. The white is a little too bright. Keep at it!

Believe it or not that comment didnt meant to be rude, more like ''push that you can do it better'' without compliment... but after reading it again I totally agree with you it sounds very rude. Tbh I didnt even read his OP because I was about to leave job and didnt know he was that young and that those were his first minis!

So then I gave him some basic tips that I think are a good start aside from whats been said, but still, chunky has to get used to rude comments like that if he wants to be a good painter...and he did well in my opinion.
You probably say that to another teenager that are nowadays and they will say ''fu'' my minis are the best. And thats not an attitude either. Ofc its not this case and even then, my comment seemed out of place... but you know what I mean... at my local GW theres plenty of shitheads like that, that refuse to learn and already think they are propainters. :rage:

Chunky read my post above, I explained a pretty good trick to know if the mixture is ok. Keep on learning your skinks look much better.

Alright thanks i must have looked over that I was kinda discriminating against your post due to how the first one was rather rude. Thats how most of my mixtures have been turing out :D.

Np! and Im sorry if my first post was rude it wasnt my intention... well you can read above for that too ;)

Im a poor spanish guy and sometimes my english expression is poor :depressed: :spiderman:

to aiker - glad you amended your post - constructive critic is always good and appreciated and from your painting work you are a very good painter - but think back to your own 1st mini painted we all improve with age but dont want to dicourage the young bloods coming through

to chunky:- i started bout the same age as youself - now have over 30yrs experience still not the greatest of painters as we are always learning - best advice i can give you is take your time if it looks right it is right

as arsenal said thin your paints a little by taking it out of the pot if you are not sure if it is thinned right try it out on an old bit of sprue rather than on the model
enjoy the hobby and most of all have fun

Don't underestimate the power of drybrushing. It's a quick, relatively easy technique that can give you good results in much less time. That can be important for a new painter especially.

Chunky, there are a ton of resources out there for painting. I have the 'How to Paint Citadel Miniatures' book from GW, and it's a good offline reference to getting started. One thing I liked about it was that they covered the gamut from simple beginner techniques to full-blown masterclass works.

Some other sites that I'd highly recommend for painting tutorials:

http://www.paintingclinic.com/
http://www.brushthralls.com
http://fromthewarp.blogspot.com/2009/01/tips-and-tutorials.html

Faust's clinic is a great collection of techniques from basic to advanced, general to specific "How do I paint XXX" questions. The BrushThralls are largely idle, and were based around Warmachine rather than GW, but have a lot of great tutorials as well. The From The Warp link is a collection of random tutorials and blog posts about painting. Quality and depth vary, but variety is undeniable.

I spend a lot of time hunting for tutorials online - there's a lot of duplicate information, but every once in a while you come across a nice gem even in something you've read about a dozen times.
