Good morning all

I just finished painting my army of 1000 points (a lot of time right now with quarantine ..) and I would like to extend my army to 2000 points. After buying the start collecting and having recovered old figurines lizardmens from a friend i have now:
-1 slann starmaster (old figurine)
-1 astrolith (converted from SC)
-1 sunbloodsaurus (converted from SC)
-1 oldblood on carnosaur
-1scar veteran on cold one
-3 salamanders hunting pack
-5 saurus knights
-80saurus warriors
-1 skink starpriest
-Something like 20-30 skinks (not paint)

After a few games at 1000 points I would like to continue in koatl claw with this list:

I was very inspired by the list of LizardWizard in his post (which I thank).
I know it's not the most competitive list, but I really want to play with the figures that I like (i really like the figure of the carno and not really the slann).
Do you still think this list is playable or is it ridiculous?

I like it, Double Carnosaur and a good mix of support heroes and units to support.

I feel like what the Starseer offers your list is the 3d6 charge and boost to saves. Since you have multiple units who want buffs it might be worth replacing it with a second Starpriest. It would be a minor optimization, so if you like the Starseer I say stick with it!. Also, I would give Celestial Deliverance to one of your Skink Priest. I now feel like the spell is mandatory for any coalesced army.

The starseer is the only model of the list i dont have yet so i can change him for a second starpriest :)

I like that list a lot! Starborne is the better Saurus platform imo due to the extra rend from Sunclaw. Knight suffer a little without the Koatl's Claw hit bonuses.
 
Okay , i have all the models for this list so let s try it ;)

I'm agree for the knights but i hope with still 5 attacks each model they can be a good target for the starpriest's buff (2 mortals each 6 for wound with the spear).The plan is too buff knights and warriors and send them where you want on the map.
Emerald lifeswarm is here to follow the saurus warriors and keep them as possible more than 15 for the extra attack.

I will try this after the quarantine , thanks for your feedback !

I like the list alot on paper, although Im unsure how it will be on the actual table. You dont have the CP refunding that Koatl gives, but you do have 1 extra artefact where you could grab Aetherquartz.

You will start with 2 CP, get on average 2 per round. I just worry if you get into a situation where your Aetherquartz fails you and the Slann wont generate any additional CPs.

i'm agree , the CPs come only with slann , starpriest and broch so i guess one of the difficulty of this list is to use the CP at the right moment.Maybe the list is easier to play in koatl's claw for that but i think i need the teleport , the rend -2 on warriors and the mortals wounds on knights versus army with very good save.

I think Starborne is very good for even Saurus. As @LizardWizard said, -2 rend is pretty significant in this current day and age. I also think Saurus are simply too slow and lack mobility, so being able to teleport them is really huge.

Edit: My only issue is that when it goes good with the CPs the list will do good, but when it goes bad it will do very bad. No CPs = No gas. Thats really the only reason I like Koatl - It gives you an additional way to refund CPs. In my mind we really need buffed units for every single fight, since our warscrolls on their own are so bad except for Salamanders and Kroxigors.

I personally like consistency and would hate to lose every other game straight up because RNG in regards to CPs was against me. If it was me I would maybe look at a list with a Slann + Kroak and then just Saurus Warriors, no Knights. A bit of magic, more CP generation and synergies with Saurus.

But alas, only actual playtesting on the table will really give a feeling of how the list plays.
