    Hey spess!

Absolutely I think it'll be really cool to see what we can come up with. I'm working on the carnosaur now which I'll post pictures of in a bit. If you have any questions/suggestions or ideas post them and we can play around and see what we can make!

Thin the paint a tad, run at 20 psi and try to keep the tip clean. Practice on a sheet of paper drawing lines etc

    Hey everyone!

Here's a few pictures of the carnosaur so far. I wanted to do a test side to see if I'd like the outcome. I like the colors but im having trouble blending them, I might try to use Druchii Violet for the back scales and keep Nuln Oil on the legs and such. Also as a side note I used the Seraphon Battletome as a background so that the model is a bit brighter.

Nice start, to help you blend the colours you can glaze the area, it will require between 6-10 coats depending on what you want to achieve, avoid using Nuln oil it's too dark.

Druchii violet will work but thin it to a ratio 4:1 use Lahmian medium or at a push water, apply thin coats and allow it to fully dry between coats, you won't see anything until around the fifth coat, apply the glaze where the colours meet then when you think it needs another 1 or 2 coats apply to the full area.

Also did you spray the primer?

And final really good that your trying blending etc ;)

Depends, you can get a Airbrush setup for as little as £60 not great but a good first step, my brushes are £10 each so I think £60 is cheap as the time saved v quality is worth it, I have a couple of cheap airbrushes that were £10 each and they are really good.

You can spend a small fortune but small steps and just swap stuff as it breaks etc, I think my setup cost me £600 but it's worth it, still don't use it enough!

Example of what is capable with an airbrush, I did these space bases in about 30 minutes (I did 3 at once) that's clean the airbrush, swapping paints etc, how long would it take with a brush...

    Hey everyone!

Just a small update on the carnosaur. I'm still messing around with the around scale colors a bit but it's getting there. Not too sure yet though with the color on the scar veteran, I might do something brighter, distinguishing him out with more celestial colors like Teclis Blue, Lothern Blue, and...ill have to figure out some more colors.

    Hey everyone!

Just another small update, I finished both sides today of the carnosaur, all that's left is to pant the harness, the symbols on the harness, the seat, and finally the scar-veteran. I'm a little nervous doing the scar-veteran since I have a specific idea in mind, but it might be a little hard and would involve some decent blending which I haven't really tried yet.

As a side note I've been thinking it over, especially with the holidays coming, I've been considering getting an Iwata NEO airbrush as it is a fairly cheap, supposedly reliable airbrush from a well known brand. For a compressor I live in a college dorm so a tank is a must but I need it to be fairly quiet when filling up, it can be a little loud as I'd use it only during the day but it can't be so obnoxiously loud that I get complaints.

Another thing is that if have to invest in some sort of box so that the paint particles don't get everywhere. Post what you think might be the best option for me or what your experience is on the subject. Thanks again for reading!

This is the compressor I have, very quiet and excellent air distribution,

    upload_2017-11-24_12-37-7.jpeg

I use a iwata Eclipse Hp airbrush and it is faultless.

Just a quick update, finished most of the harness, just have to paint the Cain connecting to the carnosaur, and finished the throne. All that's left now is the rider!

@Crowsfoot Thanks for the reply Crowsfoot! Yeah I was browsing through the Iwata stuff and I found that air compressor, though it's a bit too expensive for a college student like me. I also looked up the Iwata Eclipse that you mentioned, it looks pretty sturdy and has little to no bad reviews though I don't think I'll be able to afford that model in particular. Do you have any experience with the Iwata NEO? I've seen some really good reviews on it and it's pretty cheap. As for the compressor I might just go with either a pancake compressor or a cheap airbrushing one on Amazon that goes for like $80. Thanks again for the reply!

The Nei uses the same technology as the eclipse so it will be excellent value

On the Neo airbrush, you might want to check Hobby Lobby. I've seen it for $80, but you can use a 40% off coupon, so it comes to around $50 depending on your sales tax.

Done! The carnosaur and the scar-veteran are both finished! I like how it turned out too, it wasn't exactly like the model I based it off of but im still proud of it. Now it's time to move on to my knight unit, though I'm probably gonna hate doing them since they are already assembled so ill have to paint at weird angles and stuff. Lesson learned to do partial assembly. I've got a box of them that I haven't assembled yet as well so those will be easier. My Bastiladon should be coming in soon as well so that will be fun, I'm probably gonna hold off on it though until I get the airbrush stuff because I really, really want to do the galaxy on its shell. After the knights I'll probably work on my Lord Kroak model a bit. Speaking of, anyone have any recommendations for a bright stony color? I have a color in mind for what I want, which I'll post in the next update, though I don't know what the color is called. Anyways, thanks for reading!

Here's the stone color I was looking at for the palanquin. Any thoughts on the citadel paint color that would be closest to it?

    Geeat work on that model!
As for the grey on the palanquin... probably administratum grey. Shaded with nuln oil and then again layered with administratum and maybe drybrushed with something almost white. The app suggests longbeard grey for drybrushing.

Thanks for the responses on the palanquin color! I'll pick up some administratum grey when I get to my local hobby shop. As for a small update I started making terrain for the models!
