Getting Started with Seraphon with new Battletome

Hey all!

I've recently returned to the hobby after a long break. I have played 40k in the past (Tyranids) but fantasy genre speaks to me more so I'm planning to move into AoS.

I've been waffling on an army for a few weeks now but finally landed on Seraphon (though the lumineth preorder is tempting...). I love the versatility and I am a huge fan of dinosaurs/dragons.

I'm trying to find information on the best ways to get started with Seraphon with the new battle tome. The information I've found has been very conflicting (some people saying it's really strong and versatile, others that they were nerfed to ground and dead). I tend to lean towards more competitive play but enjoy the collecting and hobby side as well.

I was able to pick up the start collecting box and a box of skinks from local games tore but after reading more im realizing I may want to return one or the other since mixed armies seem weaker.

Are there any new resources for how to get started playing/collecting seraphon on the competitive side since the new updates?

@Erta Wanderer already covered the basic helpful thread.

That said, honest opinion: no, we have not been nerfed to the ground, the new battletome nerfed some of our most unbalanced abilities and that's it. THat's a pity, but it was also to be expected.
But we have been given a good amount of new, strong options. Very strong magic, ability to deal consistent numbers of mortal wounds and other nice things.

However, we are not a new army with models that need to be sold... so no, we are not broken or strong to the level of some of the new armies, and we need planning and synergies (that often relies on frail heroes) to be successful.

On the main website homepage, there is a section on AoS which will give you help with Army lists, etc. as well as a LOT of very helpful people. Don't be afraid to ask questions or even start a new thread! Everyone brings something to the table and it's always good to hear a new viewpoint, even if new.

(Pssst.... Keep an eye open for Warhammer: The Old World, I am an Eight Edition enthusiast (afraid definitely not a fan of AoS ) and am hoping that this will bring us back to the golden times as it was MUCH better in the 8th)
