I have yet to buy paints for the hobby is there any recommendations people can make - GW paints tend to be expensive for small pots or is this just industry standard?

I've been using http://www.blackhat.co.uk/product-category/coat-darms-paints/coat-darms-paints-fantasy-range/ with some success, generally £2 a pot and 10 ml bottles so you get more for your money, Army painter is also good mind you.

As for myself, I think I'll try painting the skink chief I've ordered off ebay if he turns up soon! I may have a non Lizardman entry as well depending on how that goes.

Wahoo! Can't wait to get stuck in with this, in fact I can't remember the last time I was this excited to paint something :D I think I have the perfect model to paint, I just finished building it...so it it must be fate!

Awesome news!!
One fast question, @The Red Devil:
b) Any models entered has to be created for the competition. To ensure this, each entry will need a WIP picture alongside a paper with the text "Lustria Online - Golden Serpent 2016".
If I had a built model from the past (9 months or so ago) but it has received no paint at all (not even primer), and I may even build a nice base for him (for showcase), would I be allowed to take part with that model?

Thanks anyways!! This is so exciting! And thanks to all the sponsors that take part this is awesome!!

I don't wanna toot my own horn but I hope I haven't peaked too soon with this

Well, I think we now all know who is going to win the best sign portion of the comp. Now I have to try for one of the other categories!

My fiancé is going to draw a snake on it - if I bug her enough to do so :p

The competition is heating up already! Even the signs are being contested... this is going to be fierce. I can't wait to see all the great entries, this competition is going to be spectacular!! :)

Updated competition sign written in Lizardmen glyphs - the date I used the roman numeral template for 2000 10+5+1

Edit: I used Warhammer bases to size the glyphs and make straight lines as best possible

Edit2: @Warden - thanks to your mayan and Lizardmen glyph links :D

Edit3: It is meant to be landscape :P I just photographed it wrong

P.s. Can you have a big diorama base?

That's a good point. would that kind of thing come under a conversion/sculpt, or a "master" painting entry? Or even just an apprentice entry?

Impressive... if you put forth anywhere near this level of effort into your entry the rest of us stand no chance.

@The Red Devil

I have a question regarding the random draw, if you enter say 3 different models in 3 categories do you get 3 entries into the random draw or is it one entry per member?

Have to keep reading over rules, the three pictures thing is slightly confusing me. So it's a WIP with the written text as one picture then the other two as two different angle shots of the finished model?

I think its like this -

1 WIP with Papper
2 WIP or Finished model
3 Finished model

But you'd need different angels to show off all the painting I think so maybe one front and one back for 2/3 - I think maybe only one WIP with the comp name + year is necessary to prove authenticity. So I think its more important to have 2 nice images of your final model so judges can get a overall idea of your painting.
