If I got it right, it depends on the category you would like to enter.Apologies if this has already been answered, but this is a long thread and I spend all day every day reading for work already. Does an entry have to be something that you started *after* the contest opened? Like, I have a project that I've done a tiny bit of work on, but the vast majority of the work will be done in the future. Is it enough for me to satisfy the WIP photo requirement, or should I start something new?
If you wish to enter the painting category, you are required at least one WIP picture. This needs to be taken once the model has been primed, and it must be near the LO GS 2016 text. This picture proves that you painted, and not necessarily built, the model specifically for this contest. So if you wish to use that model in the painting competition you can do so as long as it did not receive any paint apart from the primer.
However if you´d like to take part in the converting you need to take at least 3 pictures: One when the model has been built at about 20% , other when you have built about 50% and the final one (preferably with more than one angle) once the model has been finished but not primed, so the judges can see what part of the model is greenstuff, plastic or whatever else. This means that if you want to enter the converting competition the model must have been built only up to about 20% (although I don´t think there´ll be any problem if it is 30% or even 40% as long as your second WIP is not so close to the 50%, so for example is your first WIP is 40% then your second can be 70%).
And remember that at least you need 3 pictures and maximum 6. Hope this helps
