Hoy boy, I'm behind on this thread and just saw the whole army pics. Amazing work. The star-theme really came through, and my favorite is probably the wing membranes on your terradons! Congrats amazing army.
Thank you! A lot of people like the terradons, I do think the wings presented a great opportunity for the galaxy/star theme
It's been awhile but between vacation and the new edition June was pretty unproductive. I did get my lord kroak in and got him built, as well as an oracle on trog. I don't think I'm going to paint kroak yet, he's going to require a lot of planning so I want to wait on him. I'm going to be starting back up on my nighthaunt soon painting wise instead, stay posted!
Looks great! And like a really challenging paint job! I usually do complete builds and then paint, but there are so many nooks and crannies here I might try to paint smaller pieces and assemblies before putting everything together.
I didn't attach kroak or the skink attendant, otherwise it's fully built. I was considering sub-assemblies but it might have been a pain either way because some of the parts had multiple attachment points that would be hard to glue without getting glue all over the paint job and having to repaint anyway lol.
After a few hours in the airbrush booth I got everything zenithal primed that I wanted to for my July goal! It's time to start painting my Gastly's again! Here's some pics of my WIP, I have a handful of models done up to the primed and "ethereal fade" stage, along with 20 rasps done up to the stage of the ones posted. Going to finish off the first 20 rasps I have partially completed first.
These already look amazing. How do you create the color gradually fading effect? (please don't say wetblending as I cannot confront doing that)
Thank you! I used my airbrush for the transitions. It's a mix of violet ink, yellow, and burnt umber paint for the darker part followed by thinned violet ink built up in layers as I move towards the tips. I picked up the nighthaunt because I wanted to practice with an airbrush and I figured they're a good candidate for that. Plus the models are great!
Gastly's incoming! They're done, just gotta do the bases! This is my first attempt ever at weathering effects, I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. Tried to get some close ups to see the rust and verdigris. I'll post another group pic once the bases are done! Then I'll get started on the next 20
Very nice colorscheme! I love the combination of black and purple. The metals are very thematic textured. Keep up the good work. Grrr, Imrahil
