Its probably a good idea to show that the GoS exist outside of just short stories and drawings so I'll post up some of my modeling and painting here!

Finished all the Cold-Ones for my first squad of saurus Death Riders.
Their colours were differentiated based on the head shape. I like having a bit of variety. Undecided if the riders should be different colours too or all united.

ive been thinking about making a 40k space lizardmen army myself for a little bit, never could figure out a good codex to use as a proxy. what army are you using? is that astra militarum?

cant wait to see the finished army!

Absolutely you should do it! Its a great exercise of creativity in terms of how to figure out how to do the models and how to figure out some lore. My army's lore can be found here https://www.lustria-online.com/threads/guns-of-sotek.27516/

And yeah, I'm running these as imperial guard because I love tanks. The tanks also work as a great canvas to apply decorations.

Was not as productive today as I thought I could have been. Still, added the explosive charges to the lances to make these more rough-rider like.

I am so slow at painting, aghhhh!
Anyways, here is the colour scheme for my first set of Saurus Death Riders
The orange dorsal spikes signify that these were spawned in the new world.
As soon as I have the spear shafts and feathers painted, they will have at least one arm. I have forgotten to sort out the other arms which will be a selection of shields and guns.

Been prepping a bunch of equipment to hang from their saddles and those equipment belts I spent far too long on.
 
10 hours in the greenstuff sculpting mine and I have 20 little lizards with their belts and straps for gear. Plus a few loincloths, kilts and other bits of sartorial extravagance to give them some variety and character. Its going to be two squads of infantry and those are just place-holder bases.

Also a Temple Guard champion that I am doing up as a commander of some kind. Thankfully the shield wasn't molded on so adding the plasma pistol was pretty simple. Not sure how I am going to modify his club to look more like a power weapon though.

Maybe something from mechanicus? Those infiltrators of theirs have some power baton limbs. Or something orky? They have tesla coils on plenty of stuff.

Tried cutting some fists and adding some sculpted fingers and thumbs for holding some assault weapons. While its not super duper hard to do these, it'd be good to find a qucker and more consistent solution.

I'm having a go at modeling some replacement spear tips for my Saurus Deathriders. I've got a cuff to slot it onto the shaft of an existing spear if I cut the end off.
This new one extends the shaft a bit to get the explosive tip a bit further from the user. Also it has the explosive tip mounted right up against the sharp edge.

On my list of other things to design are:
  • some power weapons based on the saurus macuahuitl clubs
  • servo staff tip to turn a skink priest into an enginseer.
  • head-crest mounted radio head-set
  • other accessories like tail bags and maybe some custom las-pistols as I am low on those and they are expensive to buy.
After that I'm going to work on some vehicle accessories. Glyph and other stuff I can stick to the outside. I've got a digital micrometer and it has given me incredible powers.
