I think those Elves look cool.
If you convert their helmets that is.

The big bull thing is.... OK I guess.

I found some examples to how you can "fix" their helmets.

I want to like the Lumineth (High Elves were my first army), I really do, but they are just so ridiculous looking from the neck up.

I get the lore explanation for the mountain spirits, but stick legged cattle with locked knees just look ready for tipping, not battle. This reveal makes me sad.

like this they look so much better. Especially when it's just the bullfaces, makes them look scary and indomintable, headstrong. You know, like a bull. It also combines nicely with the hammers. With the bullheads as helmets and the elegant hammers it's also just the right amount of impractical nonsense that it looks "logical" again. I could imagine these being the sacred guards of a temple dedicated to their bull-god.Or some religious zealout unit who get hyped up via some ritual before the battle and then just crash into the opponents lines (again like bulls).

Seriously, how is this variant not the official one.

Don't like them. These are basically "standard" elves with weapons that don't fit at all the elven style

    Much better.

I think that if i were to get these guys, i would give four of them the "standard" helmet and give the champion the bull mask.

I like the idea that they are a sort of combat priests, so the mask fits well.
And the champion would be recognizable by painting (the mantle?) or something else (the only one with dual hammers or something similar)…

...but that's not gonna be my problem. :p

well, also new elves can mess with the activation phase.
It seems everyone can do it, except us Seraphon…

yeah just saw it. This seems even worse than just breaking the order. The only counter to this is to have your entire army go first or push the entire aelven army into going last.

It's the only ability that changes the order that has no conditions, no cost & is army wide.... At least in the case of a treelord or contorted epitome or something you can kill the model causing it, outrange it, or get lucky. Whereas high aelves just break the order regardless.

Also, this particular variant makes the aelves super forgiving in terms of positioning. It simply doesn't matter if you screw up (or your opponent plays well) and catches multiple units in combat, forcing you to choose which unit to attack first with. A rule like this guarantees that most of your stuff will always fight first, or at least second, not 3th or later... unless you have a truly insane amount of units in combat or get extremely unlucky with being pushed backwards by something like a treelord.

There better be some massive drawback to them...

Yeah, elves can charge with 4 units and you only get to fight with 1 before 2 of them… :meh:

    Don't count on it.
GW got favorite armies and neglected ones.

...and Sons of behemath just got a bland "coming soon" announcement.

On the plus side, they will reprint the 40k graphic novel "Demonifuge" (20th anniversary)

Also, a weird lil video for the gargants

The attempt at making them fairytale-like falls a bit flat due to their obviously not fairytale-like name imho...

Well, after this preview I have a few things to say.

Firstly, GW once again waste a good opportunity. With a title like ‘Pariah’ and an intro like:
You’d think that that would be a great way to herald the arrival of the Silent King into the 40K game, given that he’s been in self-imposed exile for many millennia and that he’d be quite happy to curbstomp Chaos into the ground (alongside anyone else that isn’t a Necron for that matter), but what do we get? Another f*cking Battle Sister. Haven’t we had enough of those?

What’s more, there’s mention of Deathwatch and Harlequins getting a Psychic Awakening book with rules (probably the aforementioned ‘Pariah’), but nothing about Necrons, meaning they’re now the only faction without any Psychic Awakening supplement. This could mean that GW are building up the suspense before announcing an all-Necron supplement with the Silent King front and centre (which could come with a super-duper Primarch size model - wouldn’t it be fantastic to see him arrive and punch Guilliman, Mortarion and Magnus in the face to show just who really rules the galaxy?), but we’ll see what happens.

The Lumineth box set is nice, like the plastic Sisters of Battle one (but 100 times cooler). My only concern is that there’s less stuff in this one (just 10 Spearmen, 5 Cavalry and resurrected Eltharion), so I hope GW will make this one slightly cheaper.

Well, at least we know that they are actually coming next now, whereas last week they mentioned nothing about any faction after Lumineth. We can all look forward to seeing the three new Giant types arrive now, I’m certainly interested to see what GW does with them in the rules and how they make them balanced.

Overall, despite the underwhelming 40K stuff, I’m pretty satisfied with this preview because I was concerned that last week would be it for 40K and AoS and that they’d preview wall-to-wall specialist games instead, so to see some more 40K and AoS be previewed too is nice. I’m certainly looking forward to the next one in two weeks!
