O that's going to be annoying to paint if those are common on their models.

Hmm, reminds me of the little drawings in the margins of the Mordheim rulebook. I might try and get these as bits to spruce up the Mordheim warbands I'm planning on starting.

It is Bretonnia rather than CoS, because of the Fleur-de-Lis in the bottom-right corner. Cities of Skubmar units don't have the Fleur-de-Lis as their emblem, that's Bretonnia's shop.

I first saw this on EEFL. Now I can't see how any GW employee would be daft enough to sell upcoming TOW sprues, and give the game away as to what's being made, in a car boot sale of all things. However I can certainly see the GW copyright mark, and the fact it's 2023 makes me excited.

Because this clashes with GW's infuriating idea of making individually-released TOW character models in Forge World Resin, I'm pretty sure this will be one of the Bretonnian characters for the boxed game for TOW, as the contents of a boxed game have to be plastic, and if Bretonnians are going to be in it it's highly likely that Tomb Kings will be the other faction in it given they and Bretonnia have been given the most TOW screen time at this point. I really hope GW are planning to release it this year in amidst the BS that is Legions Imperialis after all, especially as the two games have different development teams. In particular it intrigues me that GW didn't include any mention of any further TOW Development Diary articles at the end of the current one, which makes me wonder if that was the last one before they reveal it in full.

Additionally, if the Horus Heresy is anything to go by, after releasing the boxed game for that GW released the two Space Marine characters in it separately after a while, so we could certainly see this lad coming out as a standalone kit in the future.

    Exciting stuff!

It’s a stretch, but a car boot sale is probably a decent way to sell something like this as it’s not easily traceable.

having said that, seems pretty small fry in terms of a money making scheme, better off offering it to some recasters or something no?

Different development teams bottlenecked by the internal plastics production crew and their capacity.

That said, I'm excited to see what tomb kings will get. And if there is a starter and not a launch box I'll be happy to see multiples on eBay and the collapse of the tomb King Gold rush

I have heard that at one time GW staffers were allowed to take miscast sprues from the miscast bin and a lot of them made money selling them second hand

Even if that were the case, definitely not with unreleased upcoming models.

You'd be surprised what slips through the cracks of even a smaller firm. I talk with general experience with smaller companies in that regard, not specifically wargaming.

There are a couple of possible explanations:
    • it was a mistake
    • it was stolen
    • it was a cheeky "outside of the box" way to reveal some models (unlikely)

The GW that used to be in Glen Burnie, Maryland would have a monthly auction where they would auction off miscasts, packages damaged in transit/that lost parts in transit and the like. This was back when I was in high school (19-20 years ago). Any way, a friend of mine got a hold of a damaged Mengil Manhide's Manflayers set about a week or 2 before they were officially released. So it could be such a thing.

Ok, so, according to this article, the new horsey riders have fully interchangable top and bottom halves, so it makes you wonder how would they wear pants.

Seriously though, those sprues being fully customizable leave the new Chaos Knights on the dust. Really tempted by them just because of that.

GW are making this sound like a brand-new innovation. While this is a nice change for their usually display-piece new plastics, in some ways there's still less customisability than their old Fantasy plastics (the torso and legs are all one piece, for instance, which was not always the case on the older models), plus I infinitely prefer the older, simpler idea of making the mounts in two halves lengthways, rather than widthways as you see here, so that a good load of different horse poses could be made. Indeed Gripping Beast, Perry and probably Victrix still do that to great success.

Here's hoping we get something sizeable for TOW after that Pegasus Knight character was leaked.
