It definitely has a very different style as compared to today's models, so in that sense it is dated. It has a much more cartoonish aesthetic.

I mentioned this conversation to @Mrs. NIGHTBRINGER , and she says she likes the model precisely because of its cartoonish quality. It's what initially drew towards the Wood Elves army. You see the very same thing in the Chaos Dwarf community where a significant portion of CD players prefer the old school cartoony big hat models over the "current" Forge World range.

You can't deny the models are good. ;)
In my heart they don't surpass the vintage charme of many old school miniatures, bt they are gorgeous nonetheless.

They're good models. I like the Saurus Warriors much better than the old sculpts (with the exception of the shields). The Kroxigor have grown on me. The Slann's Palanquin is top notch, though I very much prefer the old Slann in terms of the Slann itself. The Aggradon Lancers are obviously a huge improvement over the Cold One Cavalry of old, but they are unfortunately much too big for WHFB purposes. The Chameleons are solid too.

    That's true.

I wonder how much GW would charge for an empty box if they started selling them.

Can't be any worse than EBay sellers... I noticed one EBay Ferengi trying to sell off the empty box for a Beastman Battalion for about £25, eager to rope in some poor sod who either gullibly fails to read the print and thinks there's a complete Beastman Battalion in there or collects old Warhammer Fantasy boxes.

But jokes aside the only redundant model would be the slann, but that is a nice kit, so I probably find him a new home, or come up with the ideas. Still I'll wait for the prices before making my decision

I've noticed people doing scummy things like this many times before. They hide "this is only the box" somewhere in the description so that people who fall for it won't have any recourse when they realize they've been scammed. I recently saw two listings on Ebay for a Carnosaur that had six of the new Kroxigors in each photo and had tucked away in the description "Kroxigors not included," but the seller was clearly trying to drum up more bids from people thinking they were getting a Carno and six new Kroxigors.

Which is pretty stupid on their part as Ebay has rules against misleading listings. Pictures have to clearly show what is included in the listing and nothing more. The seller is just asking for headaches as they'll be forced to issue refunds.

There are instances of listings with the item effectively on sale (usually pieces of scenery) shown with other models, but usually it is explicitly said that the "models not included, present only for comparison" or something similar.

While technically still against the rules, if done in good faith and made completely unambiguous, I don't think many people will have a problem with such a listing.
