Yep it is, not sure if that is a good thing tho.

It seems you have accepted their new name. The corruption is spreading, can you feel yourself turning too the dark/light side?

GW prices are never a good thing! hahaha. The only time their prices ever seem somewhat reasonable is in comparison to some of their other prices.

To be honest that "model" has Seraphon written all over it. I don't want it associated with Lizardmen. Paint a couple of constellations on it and you're good to go. But please keep it in AoS. So in that sense (and that sense alone) I have come to accept the name. :D

any new models would have to go to AOS, they're not bringing back old hammer, this must be how it felt when they first brought out the salamander sculpt. Disappointing, it's ugly but eh, I will be able to use it in my army.

Surprisingly, nor would I want them too. :wideyed:
While I don't think the Salamander is a beautiful model, it's not that bad if you give it a good paint job. There are many other old models that are far worse in my opinion.

True. I have a Salamander and while I agree that it isn't the most beautiful model I also agree that there were much worse ones.
Together with the 8th and earlier edition rules that's one of the main reasons for me to not play Warhammer before 2016.

But there are lots of amazing older models as well that hold up even to today's standards. Today's models are more detailed, but that doesn't always equate to better.

Eh.... maybe not always but I'd say pretty often, at least for me.
Awesome stuff I'd like to have (as a new model more detailed. Often I only like the idea and not the sculpt) from earlier editions AFAIK:
    - Skinks with bows
    - Slann on a Stegadon
    - Dimetrodon style Salamander
    - 5th Edition Carnosaur

...thats it from the top of my head. Most old models are strangely distorted or blurry, or have weird poses. Or looks like from some Disney cartoon. The old Frog King Slann for example just makes me laugh.

The new stuff is too big for me and I have too say that some models have too much detail, think Khorne bloodbound they were a nightmare to paint!

Well, I guess you don't have to paint all the smallest details. I've seen people play Khorne demons at my local GW store and they had literally just painted them Khorne red and shaded them. No details at all. Bigger models had, like, four colors or so, most of the details were done just by painting them black. Basically everything that wasn't skin or metal.
Fun fact: from 5m away they didn't even look too bad.

Some of my favourite models are from 6th or 7th edition...
    • Slann
    • Hellcannon
    • Juan Diaz daemonettes
    • Be'lakor

The daemonettes are a great example since the new sculpts look horrible in my opinion. I also actually prefer the previous edition carnosaur over the current one (although the rider is better on the new one).

Some of the new sculpts just feel too busy for me. Also they have tiny little plastic protrusions that don't look like they would hold up well in a gaming environment. That said, there are also many great new sculpts (Lord of Change for instance).

I definitely prefer the new Carnosaur, but the old one is pretty awesome still.

I think what bothers me most on old models are the body proportions.
That Carnosaur has a great pose for example, but his neck doesn't fit its body size and such stuff.
As for the tiny details protruding out of them: yeah. Troglodon is a good example. Awesome but it is pretty likely those antennas won't survive long. :(

It´s more like the spit/tongue won´t survive long. I didn´t even finish painting mine before it was broken (and I didn´t use it for game play until finished)

I already broke off one part of the split tongue twice. The next time I break it off I'll remove the whole tongue, replace it by my spare part and magnetize that. I did that with other parts and it worked great. No more breaking off stuff that easily, it just moves out of the way and you can snap it back on. The flag thing on the Skink Oracle's back got that treatment as well, also the flag things on my Stegadon.

I have the exact opposite opinion. I think the body proportions of the new carnosaur is off; it's head feels too small. I love the proportions of the old model, the only gripe that can be made is that it could be a little bigger. That is mainly due to scale creep though.
