GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

I’m honestly amazed by this - the next Beastsgrave warband to be previewed is none other than three Goblin Wolf Riders:

Bearing in mind that GW originally got rid of all the bog-standard Orcs and Goblins in January when the Gloomspite Gitz arrived, does this mean bog-standard Goblins will be seeing a resurrection? Perhaps GW are even thinking of making them part of a Hobgoblin army with the Mongol-inspired lore from Warhammer Fantasy?

Love that they’re giving some old minis a new lease of life!
Maybe the ironjawz get some regular orruks and grots with em?

Aren't all the Grots souped into Gloomspite Gitz?

GW removed all of the grot models that weren't part of the Gitz, such as wolfriders, pumpwagons and spearchukkas.

This.

However, this doesn’t stop GW from creating another Goblin faction with the Wolf Riders in it.

I miss pump wagons. They were hilarious in 7th ed

I’d say you could still convert one out of the Ogre Ironblaster/Scraplauncher kit if you haven’t got one of the old models by using the scraplauncher without the catapult arm so that it is effectively a Gnoblar Rhinox chariot, as Gnoblars are Strength 2 like Snotlings. You could say that they were a load of Manbiter gnoblars (the Gnoblar equivalent of Maneaters) who’ve thrown their lot in with the Orcs and Goblins for a hefty price.

The wait is over, the Orc Warclans and Cities of Sigmar Battletomes and accessories are on their way, along with the new King and Heralds of the Dead for Middle Earth!

This Gaming Book looks very handy for someone like me who wants to economise and keep things simple, as long as it isn’t over £25:

Nice to see the Dwarf Start Collecting box with the old Fantasy King Belegar art, although I still don’t think it makes sense for the good guys to have hired Dark Elves to work for them:

Is anyone going to point out just how much of a ridiculous name "Greywater Fastness" is?... especially for Dwarfs.
Not only that, the names sound quite reversed: Greywater sound more appropiate for corsairs and Anvilgard for dwarfs.

You know what? scratch that, both boxes should have been named "SC! Duardin/Scourge Privateers".

On the other side, I am quite interested in seeing what a Big Waaagh! BT will look like.

Agreed. Somebody really messed that up.

On the plus side, Greywater Fastness is a great way for GW to protect their IP... nobody would ever steal that!

Aren't these just based on their older fluff for the various cities that had boxes a year or two back in which they established city Anvilgard had a proper seaharbor and Greywater was just some random city near a lake that was grey or something that got fortified by dwarves cuz reasons?

I do like that they're getting boxes though. Though it does make me sad that the dwarfs in the box are ironbreakers. That does mean the units that became unavailable a little while back, like regular dwarf warriors, aren't likely to come back at all. Had expected a lot of those to come back, but on round bases or maybe with new sculpts.

Agreed, I really hated how GW got rid of most of the stuff for Dwarfs, High Elves and Wood Elves. The Dwarf Warriors, Thunderers etc had already been given round bases in a repack a while before this, so GW definitely weren’t going to remove them just for that. Like you I was hoping for new kits, as admittedly the Warriors, Thunderers and Cannon were pretty old, dating from late 6th Edition Fantasy, as well as a Battletome of their own that still made them a viable army on their own that could also work in a Dwarf triad of Dispossessed, Fyreslayers and Kharadron where they would help eliminate each others’ weaknesses.

Instead what we get is an Empire and Dark Elf alliance that guest stars Dwarfs, High Elves and Wood Elves on occasion, which makes no bloody sense. Are you hearing this GW? What you’ve done is lazy and makes no damn sense!

And do you know what the worst thing is? That the horrible, horrible squatting Empire State Trooper miniatures are STILL being made, despite them being not that much more recently released than the Dwarf Warriors and that they were a good deal older than some of the High Elf minis that were scrapped (White Lions, Dragon Princes, e.t.c.).

The only other thing I can say is that at least SOME of the Dispossessed minis are still being made (that is, all the minis the Dwarfs got in 8th Edition), and that they didn’t get completely scrapped, but even so, I expected a lot more from GW than this.

Names definitely sound like marketing printed the wrong ones on the boxes.

I don't think "cities of sigmar" have a unified look, and I doubt they will look that way unless GW does a full army re-paint of their studio army. And that would be too much work for too little gain, the book seems just a placation for those with older collections.

You’re right, Anvilgard is much more Dwarfen, while Greywater Fastness makes more sense for the shadowy, loose-cannon Dark Elf Privateers.

Exactly! It’s honestly the laziest thing GW could have done with the remnants of the old armies.

Yeah, I’m certainly looking forward to that a lot more, as it fits alongside Gloomspite Gitz uniting the Goblins so well.
