The new box for AoS has been shown.

Will this replace the current AoS starter set then, thereby making this AoS 2nd Edition due to the updated General's Handbook? Because if so...

Why Nurgle again GW? Why???????????

Now that I've got that over with, the snail looks more comical than anything else...

Oh, and @NIGHTBRINGER, welcome to AoS! Have your Nazgul relented at last?

It's not a new starter set, but it probaly could be used as one. It's a campaign expansion that goes with the new AoS narrative campaign called Blightwar. You should probaly get used too seing Nurgle this and next month, it's kinda a big narrative deal.

With Seraphon having SCE as Allies and me starting a Death guard army this set could be a good buy to use in AOS, 40K and Blightwar

Maybe I have the stats in mind wrongly, or that snail is super powerful, but my first impression was:
Looks very imbalanced, those Vanguard Raptors alone will probably kill all the plaguebearers and the nurglings in round one...

EDIT: The female SCE is... meh. OK. I really like the snail though! It IS kinda comical yet ugly and sick, which is exactly how Nurgle rolls. And Nurgle can use a buff in AoS I guess.

Blightwar has £144 worth of miniatures in it I think I read - not including the new heros! Going to be a good value box!

I really want the snail dude. He'd make a good Herald on Palanquin (which uses the Epidemius rules in 40k, which are pretty nice).

I'm not sold on the ladycast eternal. I like the armour and the pose, but I do not like that style of axe, her helmet or her hair. Still, weapons swaps and head swaps are the easiest thing to do in terms of conversions, so there's still potential there.

Which one is the Ladycast Eternal? (Which ones?)

The SCE cavalry in this box: riders look too large for the beasts?

Really digging the eagles (zephyr birds? what are those?) ...somebody keeps sneaking in nice looking non-OOT creatures to these boxed sets.

The Nurgle stuff can go rot...

The female SCE is the one at the bottom right next to the Nurgle hero.

About the cavalry.... I kiiinda like those guys and their steeds, but you are right, they look a bit too big with all their armor.

The birds are companions for the crossbow dudes, and they look awesome. Love them. They are called Aetherwings I think.

So there is just the one GirlCastEternal? They didn't do a whole unit? Do they have enough optional female heads to make (half?) the whole unit female?

Don't take the questions as me being critical of GW from any perspective regarding her.

The whole issue of female models in Tabletop Wargames (and in what style, or how often are they depicted) is a minefield. And I have no opinion regarding what a Games Company ought to do.

I am merely curious exactly what they decided to do.

Further follow-up question:
The birds that I like...those go with the five guys who have a weapon in one hand and giant crossbow pistols in the other?

OR, do they go with the three guys who have big weird looking bolter/blaster things that need both hands. Are those rifles?

The latter (Vanguard Raptors). Don't ask me how I know that.

I pretty much think it is an alibi model. They avoided the major pitfalls by not makign it a chainmail bikini or something, but they didn't try to give the world a significant amount of female characters either.

Actually personally I would have preferred GW to just release an "alternative heads" set for Stormcast with just female heads. No need to change the armor. They just should say "half of the SCE have been women all the time".
