Could always use the second to kit bash. Or part ways with it on ebay/local sell. She is a very nice model.

Very true. Feels like he is very much somewhere between a Relic Priest and living Slann Mage-Priest.


It's a very nice model; large and beautifully detailed.

However, I'm probably going to have the unpopular opinion... I actually like the original better!

Not for those of us who only dabble in the good stuff (WFB). :)

That base is gigantic. The old/current sculpt of Kroak would be absolutely lost on a base of that size.

I can respect that. At least the old/current model is easy to field based on the size. I agree that his head/face does look more "alive" in this sculpt. Maybe if you drilled out the eyes to be more "skull-like" sockets?

But it is a LOVELY scenic model. I'm super excited to see it. Probably out of my price range and likely to be another "god" model that my friends will not want to see fielded.

I don't like that he's taking advice from Morathi...

The old one is obviously a lot simpler, but I think it works. It has a very nice triangular profile/silhouette that I find appealing. Plus, I like the mummified skink.

Most importantly, I like the face of the old Kroak model much better.


That said, the new model is very beautiful. I'm sure a lot more people will prefer it over the old one.

If it were not for the mummification bandages, I think the new Kroak model could easily be painted up to look like a living Slann.

Agreed.

However, I'm surprised you haven't pointed out what I assume might be your favorite part of the model. The Stormcast head & skulls in the lower column on the model's right side. ;)

Indeed, it is cool.

BUT: the video says something about an "unlikely alliance". We respect the warm-bloods and spirits of nature that walk alongside us to procurate The Great Plan, but we don't allow interlopers either, and we usually same warm-bloods from Ruinous Powers ever since the Stormcasts first appeared upon the Mortal Realms, so my bet is that we are going to do our usual routine: strike down from the flank and save the day with our superior might.

This time will be more important because Be'laplot, but that's the more likely route.

Also, discounted bundle of two steggies and one bastie. That's a deal.

And, I mean, we got a new Lord Kroak. Obviously he is going to destroy the wrenched horrors.

Speaking of, I like how he can have the option of his headdress off and on. His new model is an ABSOLUTE unit and I CAN NOT wait to get him myself. Please note that he has not been removed from the webstore yet.

This means that he might stay here for The Old World, but this also means that he will have rules and points modified, because I guarantee you that he will not fit on a Balewind Vortex now. The first thing that I thought of when I saw that was "maybe he is the BV now" and my gular fold rubled. What if he now gains more wounds? the Keyword 'MONSTER'? Maybe he is not much bigger than he currently is and the debris make him look bigger. Maybe he can be build as a generic Slann? I can't wait. This is just so much hype.

Also, the new Celestial Stampede seems to costs €105, so pretty much buy two Steggies and get a free Bastie.

Oh my... this model is GORGEOUS!.

if i have to say something negative, is that the appearance is too living for my tastes. Where are the bandages? the mummified look?
Even the skinks are alive! it cannot be!

eh... i cannot disagree. However, this is a beautiful model and the throne is amazing.

Now this is a most pleasant surprise! Looks like the Lizardmen are going to get something decent from Broken Realms: Be’lakor after all!

I am certainly surprised that they’ve given the new Kroak skin, because being a Relic Priest that officially died centuries ago, you’d think he’d have lost a lot of it by now (that and the fact he has eyes are why he looks more alive than the original model and probably the reason why @NIGHTBRINGER prefers the old model) but then, perhaps the Lizardmen pinched some enchanted mummification techniques from the Tomb Kings ;). Also the Skink familiar is living too, unlike in the original model where the Skink has been mummified alongside its master.

That is a great model though, and one that is utterly faithful to the Lizardmen. Once again a nightmare to store and transport, but I’m going to leave that one for all you Kroak fans to sort out :p

My only concern is that it doesn’t look as though there could be alternative options to make a bog-standard Slann, meaning if you want an ordinary Slann you’ll still have to get its current Finecast model (and, time for another of my unpopular opinions, I really don’t like that Slann model much because it’s simply sitting there staring at the enemy as though they were a teacher that had just asked him a question he doesn’t know the answer to - sure, Slann aren’t Olympic gymnasts at the best of times, but I’d at least like a Slann model that’s raising a hand to cast or block a spell, or with his head raised and eyes closed in meditation).
