GW News: Lizard preview #NewAoS

A butt ugly faction.

 

What is everyone hoping will be revealed?

 

There's this thread in DakkaDakka, this post to be specific:

• 40K: 2 Chaos Lords, one with Jump Pack, other in Termie armor, new Termies too.
• AoS: named Varanguard, Khul now a Daemon Prince, 4th Edition Announcement.
• Warcry: OBR vs Kurnothi.
• Underworld: Nurgle daemons vs Flagellants.
• TOW: Dwarf King on Shield Bearers.
• KT: Votann vs Genestealers.

 

I don't think it's particularly bad on its own, but Ossiarch will always be an army of failed potential so long as they keep giving them Joker faces. More to the point, Tomb Kings are back now so we no longer need to care about Ossiarch at all.

These are great though, some fun new Giant Rat sculpts for Skaven (or possibly midget Wolf Rats given that those look to be on 40mm rounds).

For the TOW part of the preview I'm expecting either Dwarfs to be released opposite the Greenskins previewed a while back, or the one Bretonnian special character that hasn't got a model yet and I can't remember the name of - a Duke or a Baron.

And I'm certainly expecting that bone-cat to be part of an Ossiarch Warcry Warband, as they haven't had one of those yet (it could alternatively be an Underworlds warband but the previous Ossiarch warband - Kainan's Reapers - already covered a lot of the army).

For AoS I'm certainly expecting a 4th Edition announcement and some model previews, but I don't know where @Cristhian MLR got the idea of yet more Warriors of Chaos stuff from. It's not as if they need it with all that Darkoath stuff coming.

For 40K, new plastic Chaos Lords and Terminators for Chaos Space Marines would be incredibly unnecessary, I'm sure GW redid the Chaos Terminators not that long ago and definitely released a Chaos Lord sculpt reasonably recently.

Votann VS Genestealers for Kill Team sounds unlikely given Votann already featured in Kill Team not that long ago (against Beastmen), but their range certainly needs expanding and anything extra would help.

Your guess is much more likely than my hope of a Wood Elves reveal. Those leaked Dwarfs dice lend significant credence to the Dwarfs dropping sometime soon. Still, fingers crossed for a highly unlikely Wood Elves preview.

How would you properly distinguish that from "regular" chaos science-y nonsense though?
Cuz chaos already has stuff like the maulerfiend, the lord discordant, venomcrawlers & obliterators. War dogs also already exist. The basic crazy chaos science experiment units are already covered.

Similarly, how would you distinguish it from "regular" admech. Stuff like a kataphron is already a crazy science experiment. Simply sticking some tentacles on it and calling it a chaos kataphron doesn't seem very fun.

I can see it work as one or two new units; but how would you make it into an fullfledged faction?

 

I would expect some pretty esoteric daemon engines alongside a host of tech thralls.
Not to mention phosphex. Lots of phosphex.

 

I'd rather see more Xenos factions come out before another Chaos faction, especially with GW's insistence at pointlessly releasing the four main God-specific Chaos Legions as their own factions. It's the Xenos factions that bring real variety to the game and stop it from being a latter-day Horus Heresy.

 

You're lucky you don't live in the imperium. With your love of Xenos, you'd be burned alive day one.

 

I'd rather have them with Vashtorr added as an HQ instead of Slaanesh just to have a watered down faction before Khorne and TS have a more kits for them.

Besides, I think pretty much the entirety of this community would meet such a fate... the Imperium aren't likely to consider our beloved Lizardmen as anything other than Xenos are they?
