The damage still works, but the only way to damage the Khorne units is by moving directly over them. So all you need to do to avoid the drawbacks of the spell is just not move over your own stuff. Which with full control over them, a 8"fly move & the fact that you won't ever be hurt by the aura's really shouldn't be much of an issue. At least if the Khorne units where affected by the aura as well it'd require some halfway intelligent movement. Now there's really no reason for them to ever be hurt.

Endless spells are moved by both players alternating, starting with whoever went 2nd this round until you run out of moveable endless spells. It's their main balancing mechanic as that giant vortex of magical murder might end up going back into your own lines if your not carefull. Khorne completly lacks this for some reason.

Didn’t realise that - the next army will probably be teased then because Khorne will be out and finished with this Saturday.

If you’re talking about the object on the right of the Sigmarine, I thought that was Lady Olynder - I recognised some roses and a white veil.

For the love of the Gods I honestly hope you’re wrong there and that they’re just using that cover to be in sync with the Rulebook. There’d be mutiny from around 70% of TGA forum members if yet more Sigmarines are released.

I'm hoping I'm wrong myself, walking into a local GW store and staring at the AoS section, a good percent of it is just SCE. How they have no Webstore exclusives.

hey hold up, even though there is not a counterplay option, didn't you read that there is a mechanic that they haven't reviled yet that makes it to where they can disperse every turn.

In the artice it said they just had a fixed chance to dissapear each turn, modified by the presence of a slaughterpriest. So I'd assume it's just something simple like "at the start of your hero phase roll a dice, on a 5+ it stays, add 1 to the roll of a slaughterpriest is within 3" "

Unless they make that mechanic increadibly complicated I don't see them putting in any significant counterplay. Or at least nothing near the amount of risks regular endless spells bring with em.

Staring at this banner, who is that that I circled in the banner? Is it Chaos? Looks Chaos due to the horns on the helmet. Probably a random Chaos guy, I am always forgetting what models like the Mortal Chaos look like

Failbaddon and a reimagined Chaos Marines squad are coming out next week.

Also, have a look at the upcoming Chaos Marines codex:

    And here's the current Codex:

Yes, you thought GW couldn't get anymore tight-fisted with their Codex art for this dreadful new Edition of 40K, but you're wrong...

I’m not a 40k player myself, but I think the new release of Abaddon is probably justified- he’s such a key character in the fluff, pretty much their equivalent of Archaon. The rest of the releases seem fairly cool to me, but not worth the loss of other potential models. I guess they have to press the things that appeal to their new players (given that we’ve been at this a while, it’s difficult to see things without the Space Marine fatigue, so that’s always something to bear in mind) and it’s the aesthetic that’s the most key to their bland, but that doesn’t stop it from being incredibly boring to the rest of us. The Codex cover is just plain lazy.

And there's your free like! :)

Indeed that's the only thing that's different about this Codex cover. And I thought that the first wave 8th Edition Codices were lazily-designed enough...

I imagine so, as the previous model is pretty old and tired, but I would just say that the hype is a bit overrated - the new model may look far more dynamic, but I would bet it's still smaller than the Swarmlord. He's certainly on a Carnifex/Hive Tyrant base.

I actually don't mind seeing the new Chaos Marine kit - I think they do look a bit more Chaos-y now than the previous kit and fits more with all the releases since Dark Vengeance back in 6th - but certainly I really didn't want to see several weeks' worth of 40K Chaos stuff, especially if that's all there is going to be for the next few months. I'm actually a bit worried now that that's going to take up all the weeks up to and perhaps after Adepticon so that the only AoS previews GW will give will be a more in-depth look into that Forbidden Power supplement like they did with Warcry at GAMA, despite both having been previewed ages ago, with no preview of the next Battletome.

Glad you agree with me here - the 8th Edition players all just see it as a funny joke, but being a perfectionist, I just think it looks really tacky and cheap to recycle cover art. I don't mind them recycling images inside the book as long as they're moved around (I like trying to find where each recycled image is now), but to keep the same cover art just looks awful. I don't want to have two books with more or less the same cover on my shelf even if they contain different content.

Why are they just recycling the cover art? Surely it doesn't cost that much to get a single picture commissioned.

    Yeah, that's really lazy.
They know we like cool.pictures :(

It's so good when you call indexes' versions just by recognizing the cover...

I think the new one is far better. It adds so much more than the previous, rather tired version. Plus, the new cover really pushes into the next phase of 40k.

    Bravo, Games Workshop.......

You'd think so, wouldn't you? It seems that GW wants to spend as little money on this new 40K edition as possible and get the most sales out of it by bombarding us with Imperium VS Chaos nonsense.

Indeed that seems to be the case.

I no longer play 40k, so I'll just sit back and enjoy the carnage. Sometimes it's a lot of fun being indifferent!

I agree - I don’t actually play 8th Edition, I stick with 5th and 6th Editions due to a variety of reasons which I’ve probably been on and on about in several other posts I’ve made. I just get bored by how these repetitive Imperium vs Chaos releases keep getting in the way of us waiting for the next army release for AoS and delay us in seeing what fascinating new concepts GW conjure up in that game system.

I still agree with you in that Fantasy is superior, but I still admit that AoS has a lot more potential than 8th Edition 40K right now - just look at some of the awesome new armies GW have released for it and the fantastic concepts for them (Gloomspite Gitz and Idoneth having particularly nice twists to them). By contrast 40K 8th Edition feels stagnant and ‘full’ in my opinion, what with the bloated army lists, the Imperium vs Chaos obsession, Lords of War breaking the game and, as we’ve just been discussing, the needless recycling of cover art.

    I agree almost 100%.
the "almost" part is that 40k shows some positive trend (the new genestealer cult, to name the last one). If only GW could stop to focus so much on Imperium vs Chaos, the game would be much more interesting and still with many possibilities of development
