Seems to me that this model is eager for conversions...

Maybe at some later point. A few of them. Probably the catapult if I can ally it with my Deathrattle army.

But most likely I won't build an army of them. I do kinda like them, but not enough to play a whole army.

I have had thoughts of plans to convert some of them into something more Tomb-King oriented (as I was disappointed that GW have focused on aligning them with the End Times undead aesthetic rather than giving them more Egyptian cues), but given that I've still got so much to make and do for my existing Fantasy projects alongside Fyreslayers for AoS (yes Fyreslayers are still better in my book), and organising my Skaven and Night Goblins into AoS Skaven and Gloomspite Gitz armies so that they can be used in AoS as well as Fantasy, AND my historical projects in 28mm and 20mm, I think at best it's unlikely that I'll ever get any Ossiarch, especially if GW are going to rack the prices up on them (which they probably will given that they're going to be an elite army).

On a completly different topic, 40K has mines that can be used for area of denial and given how it's represented here I'm guessing it's a shiny new mechanic. I would love to have that in AoS. What do you lot think?

I don't think there's a single model in there that I liked so guess not. Both for the army as a whole and the individual models.

Maybe if they end up having a cool playstyle I'l be forced to rethink that decision.

Minefields as a mechanic have flickered in and out of 40K as custom campaign rules since 5th Edition, but this is the first instance where it has been used as the official mechanic for a specific unit. Interesting concept, just wish it had been thought of in a superior edition (i.e. any edition before 7th).

I think the only instance in which it would work well as a mechanic in AoS is for a Kharadron unit, as they already have stuff like Skymines. However for less technologically advanced factions (which is pretty much all the others) it just wouldn't work, visually or lore-wise.

Those are among my favorites as well.
Although I'd still kitbash them I think, removing a few elements I don't like.

I would too. I'd personally swap the heads for something more animalian and add some more Egyptian elements, either greenstuffed or shaped from spare sprue bits, to make them look like a good set of Ushabti, and paint them in a stone colour scheme, otherwise they don't look too bad.

However, given that they look like an elite set of Monstrous Infantry, I wouldn't be surprised if GW priced them above the £40 mark, knowing that they priced the plastic Stone Trolls at £35 and these look to be more elite than Stone Trolls. That's the main thing that would change my current view and put me off these completely.

Well we can always fluff the mines to be something else to make it fit with other factions. For example it seems like a cool mechanic for an endless spell. And of course you can make up similar mechanics, like archers putting up stakes, or someone digging pitfalls.

Mostly just curious about the mechanic as a whole. It's can work as a counter to some of the more mobile factions and turn down the power of certain deathstars or monsters if they have to charge through a minefield. How did it work in 40K mechanicwise? Was it impactfull? Or mostly irrelevant?

Yeah, the headgear is one of the examples where they just overdid it.
Side note: that's a pet peeve of mine with GW, they do that very often.

Never seen that in the films :p

Also, didn’t know Kenner did Superman stuff. They were the producers of the old 70s and 80s Original Trilogy Star Wars figures, but didn’t know they had made stuff for DC Comics as well.
