Of those Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 and Gladius look the most interesting as the former has both Necrons and Tyranids and the latter has just Necrons, although I’d play Orks as well in Gladius.

Concerning Mechanicus, I’d rather be Necrons and shoot up Skitarii than the other way round! ;)

As this thread’s been slowly dying for a while, I’d thought I’d give it a bit of a reviving...

Anyway, a new edition of Kill Team, that skirmish version of 40K that briefly appeared and died back in 7th Edition, is surfacing with the new 8th Edition Rules. The boxed game for it features Admech and Genestealer Cults, which is a very interesting choice (much better than the rubbish that is Dark Imperium), and it has a full collection of scenery as well as the models, kill team backgrounds for the two factions, the Rulebook and starter Kill Teams if you want to get playing as soon as you’ve built your minis. Also on launch there will be some new 40K scenery and kill team boxes for Space Marines (although Space Wolves are the box focus) and Orks, which along with the Genestealer Cults in the starter set is a bit of a harbinger for the next three 40K factions for updates. Unusually all the Space Marine chapters are being put together as one faction for this one, with Grey Knights and Deathwatch (the Daemon and alien hunter specialists respectively) the only chapters getting separate factions, whereas the Death Guard and Thousand Sons legions of Chaos Marines are getting their own factions despite not being that specialist.

Like AoS each 40K faction in the game is getting a Faction Focus, with Admech having the focus yesterday, Genestealer Cults getting it today and Space Marines getting the focus tomorrow, with it being likely that Orks get the focus on Monday.

    Genestealer Cults Faction focus:

I’m interested to see what they’re doing with it, I’m still going to keep to Shadow War as it’s more like the original Necromunda, but it would be interesting to see what they do with my favourite factions in Kill Team, especially Necrons which in my eyes were handled poorly in Shadow War.

True but only Settra and Khalida it seems. Still, it’ll be worth seeing the prices for them. If Settra, Grom or Gorbad were decently priced, I may consider getting one of them - even though I don’t have TK (yet) it would be great to get Settra as purely a hobby project.

I'm thinking of getting the Zombie Dragon and Settra, mostly because I've been wanting some of the horses that doesn't cost an arm and leg.

When I ordered my Morathi on Pegasus she was £25, so they could roughly be the price they were at the time before they stopped being made. Maybe.

I kinda like Khalida, I could use her as a Necromancer or so...

Heresy! These noble heroes of Nehekhara should be used in a mighty Tomb Kings army, not as pawns to the hideous Vampire Counts!

Anyway, I’ve been looking at Grom and Gorbad’s profiles and they both look great fun to use. Grom’s best as part of a Goblin-only army while Gorbad’s better as part of an Orc-only Force, yet as my Greenskin Force is made of roughly equal proportions of Orcs and Goblins both would be of equally good use, although they can’t be used in the same force because Gorbad and Niblet, Grom’s assistant, both count as Battle Standard Bearers.

I'm guessing that Settra will be Finecast but I really hope not. I'd pick one up if it was metal.

I thought you were on a wife-imposed tight warhammer budget?

Well I do have some Animated Constructs, mostly Warsphinx's, Stalkers, Tomb Scorpions. I lack main units though, the Skeletons and Tomb Guard. I still have the book also.

I did a check on my previous Made to Order models, I think it all depends what they were before they became unavailable.
Morathi is resin, the Sorceress on Cold one is metal. The Lizardmen Bloodbowl team is metal.
So it all depends what they were being made as before.

You are saying if it was resin before it will be resin (and possibly Frailcast™️ :D) again?

Does anybody know what the tech details are on that stuff? I have seen resin casts from Scale75 and Reaper that were just excellent. I have resin models originally made by Spartan Games ( :( so long) that are excellent quality.

There’s resin and then there is resin [?]

I have several models (including my Runesmith and the Skink Priest with Feathered Cloak) in Finecast and they're all fine. The only problem I've ever had with it was my 40K Ork Warboss with Attack Squig whose Bosspole broke off, but I was able to fix that.

Still, I'm pleased that all the new characters are being made in plastic now - GW give them ridiculous prices, but I can use the same glue as I use for my plastic rank and file on them, and the sculpting is impeccable, a far cry from the hideous Empire State Trooper models of yesteryear.

As much as I love the Settra model, it looks as if Gorbad and/or Grom would be the better purchases for me, as they would get a good deal more use. Settra would only be used once I would start getting Mantic Empire of Dust minis as Tomb Kings, and it would take a while to get enough of them to have a large enough army to fit Settra, especially as my nearest Mantic stockist is a good way away.

He was metal originally, but I think they released him in resin during the FailCast era. I could be mistaken though.

Makes no difference to me, I use the same glue for both ;)

I imagine Gorbad will be resin as he's a newer model, while Grom's still going since he appeared in 4th Edition, so I imagine he will be metal.

Personally I hate Finecast. Plastic is great, metal is good but Finecast.... :vomit:
