8th Ed. Heavens Comet

Ok, this may be a silly question but I just want to make sure I'm playing it right. In the description for Comet of Casandora it says " All units from either side that are within 2d6 are struck". Does this mean that it is a line, or is it circular? In other words does it only extend from the center left to right or extend from the center making a full circle?

It is a huge blast crater. A circle 2d6 inches from the impact point. That is why it rocks!
