Hey guys how's it going?

A few of my friends were talking about getting the Age of Sigmar starter set and after looking at the rules and some of the factions I thought it looked like a fun sort of game so I thought I might join them. I went in to my local Games Workshop store and had a demo game. I had a good look around and the Seraphon really jumped out at me as something I would really enjoy painting and playing from the big dino monsters like the carnosaur to the cute little skinks.

I ended up getting the Start Collecting! box and some skinks to start with and I'm having a blast making them up so far. My friends seem to have changed their minds about starting AoS so I'm going to have to get my games at GW for now and try and convince them to join me lol.

I'm a long time on and off 40k player but I think I'm more off than on these days. I feel like 40k has gone a bit stale for me and the AoS ruleset is like a breath of fresh air. I love that the core rules can fit on a couple of pages!
 
Welcome to the party!

It should be easy enough to convince your friends to join you once they see how accessible the game is.

Make sure you start a painting blog so we can see how you get on!
 
Welcome aboard a good way to convince your friends is to play with your models and see how they get on, the SC boxes are incredible value.

As @Ritual says start a blog we all love looking at people's paint schemes and models.
 
Welcome aboard! Skinks were a good call. With the SC I always tell people, build the carno, use the oracle from the trog and make it a starpriest, and make ine of your knights into a scar-vet on cold one. Add something to make it stand out, loke one of the scar-vet heads drom the carno kit. I would recommend getting a second SC, and either doing the trog, or making a second carno and converting the oracle into a chief. If you need any list advice feel free to ask.

Thanks Bowser that's a good call about the knight I'll do that! I've already converted the wizard lizard using the spear from the carnosaur set but I wasn't sure if I should take the scar veteran or the old blood. I've used magnets on the arms so I can swap them between battles until I decide. I'll make a thread at some point soon and show you my progress.
 
Keep the magnets, being able to change them out is the best option. You will probably use scar-vet more often, but don't want to discount the oldblood for a bloodclaw, then again at that point you may want to eun dual carnos. In which case another SC is in order! If you do that route make your second oracle into a skink chief.

Welcome Ribbit - love the name, very suitable for a Slann. I am only a couple of days older than you here but already I'm enjoying myself. Certainly I commend you for starting Seraphon as opposed to GW's favourites the Stormcast Eternals and the Sylvaneth (the latter of the two I find really ugly). I'm more of an old-guard Fantasy Battle player but I've been looking at AoS and have already started to think up some brutal army lists that combine Duardin and Seraphon, as they are the two armies now in the Order faction that I have.

Fun fact: The first few times I looked at Sylvaneth I also found them really ugly, but then my wife got some and we built/painted them together, and they have grown (haha, pun) on me.
