Another option to deal some ranged damage is a unit of 4 razordons.
They are just great at saturation fire, a thing that Nighthaunts suffer a lot

Play seraphon, we have loads of dinosaurs, half of which we spam endlessly and the other half we only use occasionally :p

    It's not our fault! :angelic:

ranged saturation fire is a thing we desperately need, and we have just one unit able to do it.

The fact that this unit it's also cheap, moderately tough, got a nice defensive ability and it's perfect for LoSaT, makes razordons even more mandatory.

They're not the only ones we spam :p

But yeah, it's a flaw in the design, not necesarly with the players.

they're damage dealers in a nighthaunt army. They can charge every turn thanks to their drummer allowing them to constantly re-roll hitrolls and more importantly giving them many oppertunities to trigger "Wave of terror". They're especially potent at shredding squishier units, or weaker support heroes.

However, they're relativly unreliable against bigger stuff as they rely on "wave of terror" to kill any significant threat. If the fail to trigger wave of terror they likely won't have the damage output to take down say a bastiladon or carnosaur.

Also, they're one of the weaker damage dealers in a nighthaunt army, as such they can be used either as a distraction to draw fire instead of the proper threat, or as a surprising backup if you tunnelvision too much on the other threats.

I view them as harassment units and flankers. They are able to move through enemy lines due to their retreat and charge rules. Couple this with their above average movement and Fly and they become quite capable of reaching into the backfield at alarming speed.

I am confused here, Dreadblades are a terrible offensive hero choice, mostly used to be a general for their teleport and the nighthaunt summon unit ability. They either have 3 x 3+/3+/-1/2 attacks or 4 x 3+/3+/-1/1.

2 of those and a lord executioner is a lot of points and they are all the absolute worst the nighthaunt player can use offensively for those point, clocking in at the same as a Bastilladon in total. If you are not shooting at them first either, then something is wrong or he is incredibly lucky with charge rolls or something. Basically the basti should not be outmatched by these guys in any world of average dice rolls, and of course no advice can be given on lucky dice rolls.

Yeah. The problem is that my shooting rolls keep failing. And like you said, no advice can be given on lucky dice rolls.

I suffer from the same problem and to a certain extent, it's possible to give advices.

    1) don't go for powerful buf few attacks... unless you don't support them with rerolls (horray for salamanders and double bastiladon, buffed by astrolith bearer and thunderquake starhost)

    2) Search for a crapload of shooting (4-8 razordons should do the work)

Depends how you run them. Hordes of Stabbas with max netters and 10x Units of Boinggrot Bounders are pretty good.

Yeah, it’s just hard luck that pretty much the only player I fight against (my brother) plays Nighthaunts. If only he had chosen Chaos Demons...
