My idea as it stands is 3 units of 10 skinks with 1 krox in each, then 3 krox in a unit themselves to run rampant, that might give the enemy more targets and confuse them... hopefully :3

If you can spare the 130 or so points I would seriously consider adding 24 skinks with Standard and musician to the 3 Krox unit. If you keep them 6 wide the unit doesn’t become any more unwieldy but you get all the benefits described above. Further I can’t tell you how many times Ranks and Standard have saved a game for me. That being said the extra mass makes them a more tempting target so it should be interesting to see if a three Krox only unit is ignored in favor of bigger units. I look forward to hearing about it.

hrmmm...I thought Skrox units had to hav skinks on the side of the kroxigors as well. If not, then I still think it's a good idea to have them to protect the kroxigors from flank charges, but that would make the unit 8 wide and therefor slightly less maneuverable.

standard and musician for a T2 unit? i doubt you can win any combat with such a unit unless you're facing knights. only good thing to do is run lots of ranks so skinks are cannon fodder while the krox crush the enemy. also, running 6 wide means a flank charge can kill the krox, so its risky. 8 wide is tje most suggested setup for skrox.
no matter how fast this unit is, it will still take casualties from anything, even skeletons. the whole point of the unit is to deliver kroxigors with 3 S6 attacks, that can't be killed, into combat.

My point was that if he was planning to run them without Skinks but had the points to get the skinks anyway. The difference in widths dose make a difference on occasion particularly by (sometimes) reducing the number of enemies that can attack.
As to a T2 unit not being able to win I can guaranty that the standard and musician can make the difference. With the extra damage from the Krox you can cause the casualties to win a combat against everything from swordmasters to chaos warriors. Swordmasters in particular will mow threw anything anyway so let them waste there attacks on 5 point skinks.

Really, the reason I have 3 on their own is because of lack of models, and that I would want to try the 1 to 10 ratio for krox :p

Playing smart, getting them into combat safely should be easy. Especially with a stegadon, salamanders and other juicy targets on the field.

Defiantly let us know how it gos. I am mostly playing 1000pt or less games and if I take a unit of Krox they are always targeted. I would love to know if they are more viable in bigger games.

wow, three units of six?? What size army is that in?? Now that I think about it, I remember seeing a list like that in the army lists section, full of Kroxigors.. Maybe it was yours :)

The thing that I don't like about Korxigors is just how easy they are to kill for being as many points as they are.. I just don't think a 4+ AS and T 4 is good enough for me to want to have a unit by themselves. I'd rather run a regular Stegadon for the extra fifty-odd points than a unit of three Kroxs.. I could be wrong though.. The only thing I use from our special choices are the CoKnights (not for strategic purposes, but I converted them with Cold Ones from the Dark Elves army and it would hurt to not use models I spent so much time on :p ) and the Chameleon Skinks.. I love our core units and I just have to have an Ancient Steggy and my two Sallies.. :D

I have run them in 2200, 2500 and will be running them in 2400.

I went 3-2 at Northstar with a life Slann

I won Dark Conquest with them with light

I went 3-1-1 at Capital City Carnage with Light and had a super tough schedule

Nice :) And what else are you running in your army?

Its almost like you've used Kroxigors to make your own Ogre Kingdoms version of our army :D

He is handy and there really isn't anything else I would want for the pts. The great thing with him is that unit can take a charge from a mounted monster or a greater demon and hold for a round as he can challenge out die and then have a steadfast break test. Rerollable 10:)

In my current list, i have two anvil units of 25 saurus warriors.
I use two skrox unit of 24 skinks and 3 kroxigors as hammers, and so far I've had great succes with 3 massacres in a row. (Dark elves, Ogre and goblins, Empire)
Now... For my next game, I am facing WOC. And I was wondering if I should use 2 units of 5 or 6 kroxigors instead, to gain 15-18 str 6 attacks. The point cost, is about the same as the skrox.

On a side note, my slann uses Light, and I have always succeded with this lore so far.
If I am to use kroxigors only, should I go with life instead, to recover wounds or continue with light, to gain extra attacks and use light of battle to make the Kroxigors "unbreakable"?

How is your experiences with kroxigors against WOC?
    :)
