No I dont think so, just says amendments change T6 to T10. I think its always been T10 in other editions and it was just a typo in the 8th book? Not sure, but my Empire playing brother was very quick to points this out to me a while back lol They are pretty hard to take out with T10, but I find they do blow up a lot. The thing is with a steam tank they may have 10 wounds but you dont need to do 10 wounds to destroy them, if you can get 4 wounds across to it then it is pretty much unusable as expending any steam points has a 50% chance to have to roll on the table. So you just have to get a couple of wounds over and they do the rest. Poisoned giant bow on the baby steg may be worth a punt. Auto wound on the 6 for poison and no save for bolt throwers
Pit of Shades man, I think it only has initiative 1. Edit: it has initiative 3, Still worth a cast though.
I can't seem to find any reference to the Steam Tank having toughness 10. I've attached the Errata/FAQ for those interested.
Last updated 2013 though? Where do you find these things btw? I want to see thee rule chnages for LM and the end times rules but where do I find these things. Thx for all the info
well we never got a FAQ for 8th edition, https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/view/20906537/lizardmen-games-workshop here's a link to the 7th edition on though.
I believe that 2013 was the last time Empire got a FAQ/Errata update. GW hadn't released a FAQ update for quite some time, aside from some End Times stuff (lore of undeath, 50% lords and heroes). This is the reason why our current book doesn't even have one. I pulled the FAQs from the Black Library site before they were taken down. I've attached a zip file that contains what I believe are all the most recent ones.
Wow, looks like they've taken that bit out, I have the older version printed out at home, I'll scan it in later and post it to show I'm not mad . They must have realised T10 was a bit rediculous with a 1+ save too and taken it out of V1.2. Cant wait to point that out to my bro
Curse of Anraheir from the Lore of Beast should also be considered as of some kind of an asset against steamtank. It has relatively cheap casting value and your opponent is likely to want to move with steamtank when playing vs. lizardmen. If you are likely to play a lot against Empire it is quite handy to have one skink priest in you army which has selected the lore of beast since it in most cases gives the ever needed S boosts for you army and even Transformation of Khadon if you are lucky.
Yeah I have just double checked and it was in the original BRB FAQ, so must have been when 8th came out while the 7th ed Empire book was still being used. I dont know as I never played 7th but I looked at the first rule book FAQ last night that I have printed out at home and it was in there. And then in the version Nightbringer posted above it has been removed. That will teach me to not check the FAQ more regularly I've been playing quite regularly playing against T10 steamtanks, I've very much looking forward to the next game
Unfortunately Curse of Anraheir won't help I don't think. Curse only makes models take DT tests and so these only happen when they march, charge, flee or overrun. As far as I can tell/remember, Steam Tanks don't do marching or charging, they do random movement (as defined by the number of steam points put in) so a DT test won't come into effect.
actually I think the steamtank is a chariot, dont they test even if they just move normally through DT? Could be wrong dont have BRB with me
Yeah it is a chariot, but they can Move through DT with no test. Only charging, fleeing and/or pursuing triggers a test (like any other model).
