8th Ed. I apparently have no clue how to play, can I get some help?

There's one issue though. Are you suggesting to skip the templeguards and go kroxigors instead? so I would have 2 x 25 saurus and use my M6 units (krox and steg) as flankers?

Yes, basically. There are also other options for flankers if you don't like the krox (cold one riders, another ancient steg, etc.). But the krox seem good against all his 1+ armor saves, and a unit of them in the flank will almost kill his entire knight unit outright. Just be careful they don't get charged or shot up by cannons too badly before they get the opportunity.

To answer your other question, yes, you get the lore attributes. And you don't need Lore of Metal, just Searing Doom is probably good enough. An IF Searing Doom will cripple his Steam Tank into uselessness on an average roll, with only a moderate chance of making your Slann go ka-boom.

The biggest difference between what you run and what I normally run is that I mostly play at 2500 . My list is probably not the most competitive list, but is based on what I have right now and what I can proxy. And, honestly, I have no idea how I'd do against what you're dealing with. I'd have to look and see what I'd drop to get myself down to 2000.

I'll post a fuller version of my 2500 pt. list in the Army list forum later, but here is the core:
WD Slann
2 Priests
Cowboy Scar Vet
2x 25 Warriors
2x 10 Skirmishers
21 TG
9 Chameleon Skinks
SolarDon
Ancient Steg

At 2k, I'd probably drop the Bastilladon, the Scar Vet and one of the Priests and find a couple other points to drop, maybe running a Light Slann instead of WD. I'll have to point it out and see.

Edit:
Here is a link to my current list.

At 2000, I think I would drop the Bastilladon, the Scar Vet, the priest with the cube, and a couple magic items. Also, I'm not completely sold on everything in the list. Both the cube priest and the scar vet are negotiable, but this is what I'm running as of right now, mostly because that is what I have or can easily proxy.

@Padre - if it's not too bothersome could you tell the difference of what I presented and what you usually use?

While I'll mostly be playing versus my friends the next many games I would be happy to have a decent all-comers list.

While I can see that LoM is an efficient lore, I somewhat prefer the 8 sig. spells. They still supply you with anti armour spells along with buffs and other spells that can put some hurt on the opponent. It's kind of hard to descripe, but while I haven't played that much I often times find myself lacking the spells I would've loved to have. With WD it appers to be more of my preference, especially since it offers all kinds of spells.

One question though - if I go with WD do I get the lore attributes when I use a particular lore?

Yes, you get the associated lore attribute og whatever you cast.

Wyssan's gives Beast's attribute.
Searing doom Metal's, and so on ^^

As for $$$, I try to buy some from the FLGS but also recommend ebay. Sometimes you can pick up models on a discount there. and whole armies for half off.

What is the FLGS?
