I haven't seen a lot of people talk about some of the new tidbits in the battletome. Wanted to try and spark some discussion is all.

P.s. Raptadons are pretty cool, new saurian races are always welcomed

I love to join in, but I haven't got a copy of the battletome yet... So I will get back to you later ;)

Fraja Thundermane cleaved through the neck of a charging orruk. The creature dropped dead at the Questor’s feet, blood splattering over her rune-painted face. A gurgling shout echoed as another orruk collapsed like a stone, throat torn out by the saurian warrior beside her. For now, the flood of greenskins pouring through the strongpoint’s gates had abated. It allowed the Astral Templar to catch her breath and glance at her companion.

The Seraphon had arrived just ahead of the orruks. Most were stationed in concentric rings around the nexus syphon, but this one - Nar-Hok, she thought a passing skink had said - had defended the gate at her side. The orruks had eagerly funneled through to take a crack al the pair of warriors, their numerical advantage removed in the narrow confines. The duo only had to kill until the greenskins' advance broke.

'Twelve.' Fraja said suddenly. Nar-Hok twitched. That was something. Any attempt to communicate with the saurus so far had failed. She had tried stirring his blood with bellowed oaths, loudly deriding their foes, even chanting scripture like some Hallowed Knight. The only reaction had been a brief glance that seemed to imply the creature would really rather she were quiet. Fraja chuckled then shrugged. 'Killed twelve.' Nar-Hok stared for some time. Then he gestured to the corpses, tail beating the ground - one thud, then four. Despite herself, Fraja let out a delighted laugh before hefting her blade as bellicose roars echoed beyond the gates.

'We go again, star brother.'

Had to quote this little narrative cutout, because it's my favorite little moment in the new tome. I'm really happy the stuff raised in the Tome Celestial, that the era of the beast and cursed skies had opened the lines of communication between Sigmar's empire and the Slann, ended up being emphasized and expanded on a lot in this book. It's all in the service of the great plan, but it's really nice to see lizards interacting with other factions and species in ways that're more than just teleporting in, refusing to elaborate and then leaving. They even followed up on the "skinks act as batman in CoS, slaying chaos cultists and pinning the blame on the DoK" thing, with the Kroak/Morathi teamup in broken realms and the uptick in chaos taint within the cities making the two factions begrudgingly act in tandem to purge chaos cultists and cover it up.

Expanding on the skink embassies stuff from the last tome by saying that skinks living there often have jobs within the community around them is also really fun, especially talking about how their work ethic and dedication often makes them too useful to be distrustful of- even though everything they do is ultimately in the name of collecting information and ensuring the cities develop and act as the Slann command. It even mentions that cities with skink embassies often have the highest priests of the temple (or at least the highest priests that leave the temple and interact with people) having a seat on the city's conclave to represent the seraphon's interests in governmental affairs (even though i imagine what the rest of the conclave think are "their affairs" is very far off from what they actually interfere with).
