I made progress on the Easterling Kataphracts today: The cape came loose, but that might be fixed easy. The only things left are highlighting the metal parts and give them a wash. And applying the crackling paint to the base. Then take pictures with better lighting Grrr, Imrahil
Also there was something in the post today: I couldn't resist to let the Orruk go by. I might tweak him to fit in with my current Orruk Megaboss Also ordered the Orruk Brute warband from Underworlds and some extra paint for Scenery building purposes Grrr, Imrahil
Bases are being dealt with, that said the texture paint is applied and needs to dry overnight. Grrr, Imrahil
Finaly something Lizard again: The Skaven head is from the new Orruk Rat catcher. I added some pieces of wooden skewer yo represent a part of his spine. The Orruk will be handling a Saurus in stead Grrr, Imrahil
Thank you! I based it with Rhinox Hide and then slapped the Technical paint Agrellan Earth on. In the end two tufts of Greenstuff world's Dry brown 6mm range. That is all Grrr, Imrahil
I finished this model before last weekend, I think. The paintjob isn't mine though, this model came in a lot I bought second hand. The colorscheme matchen my Gondor army quite nice and it was done pretty good, so I decided to keep it this way and just adjust the base to match my army. Now I have to find an unmounted version of this model. Grrr, Imrahil
I think you've got the right idea to have several painting projects on so you can span your attention a bit (not get too fixated).
Exactly, it really helps the motivation Thank you! Lol always the advocate of Chaos (Dwarves) Time to start painting my own children of Grungi Grrr, Imrahil

The Battle Between Men - part 4 Yesterday our first scenario of 2022 of Battle Companies was played. The scenario we picked was 'Baggage Train'. In this scenario the Defender is transporting 5 pieces of cargo on the back of ponies from one side of the board to the opposite side. The Attacker is trying to steel the cargo to claim it for themselves. The win criteria for the Defender is to transport at least 3 pieces of cargo and 1 model (not being a pony). The Attacker wins if he is in possession of at least 3 pieces of cargo at the end of the scenario. The scenario ends if one of the forces is brought to 25% of its models starting number. My Minas Tirith force was decided to be the Defender and my brother's Easterlings force the Attacker. Almost immediately after placing his models my brother noticed a mistake he made: all his hero models started on one side of the board and his warriors on the other (I opted for him to rearrange it, but he didn't want to) In my first turn I moved most of my force to his warriors and managed to kill his archer in shooting. In his turn he positioned his warriors in the middle of the river crossing to stop my ponies to move freely across. During the second shooting phase I killed the first warrior on the crossing. My brother killed the horse of my knight ripping me off my 10" moving model. Turn three was going to get us models in hand to hand combat. My brother decided to run his Kataphrakt over the other bank of the river to the crossing to put me to a halt. During shooting my archers did not deliver anything fruitful. My brother managed to shoot and kill a pony, forcing a cargo drop on the ground. The one warrior with pike on the crossing held his footing really well. I did not manage to kill him, but was able to put him back Turn four was quit a eventful one: my brother got priority, but one of my heroes declared a Heroic move and doing so was able to move first, including all my models within 6". This allowed me to move around the warrior and box him in. With a after moving everything else it was time to fight. With a Heroic fight the boxed in warrior was killed and all my models were free to move again and trap the Kataphrakt as well. I only managed to kill the horse. Next turn my brother moved his, now de-horsed, warrior back onto the crossing to hold up my ponies. I killed him and his archer hero next turn. I forgot to run my warrior carrying the cargo to the board edge to possibly make it before my brother was quartered. I could pin his remaining models in combat for one turn to prevent him from fleeing. But the turn after that his pike hero failed his courage test, causing my brother to quarter and thus ending the battle. In the aftermath both our horses were lost, but their riders remained. I was able to buy mine back. A fun scenario, for a future time an other tactic will be better. Grrr, Imrahil
