Hi i have been tinkering with a list since the book was fully revealed and i would apreciate some input from other people My list is not done but i think i have The core of the list down So the core Coalesced Constallation: koatls claw Lords Saurus oldblood (110p) General Command trait: Dominant predator Saurus scar-veteran (210p) Artifact of power: eviscerating blade Saurus astrolith bearer (140p) Skink starpriest (120p) Spell: tide of serpants Battleline Saurus warriors 40x (320p) Spears Sauris warriors 40x (320p Spears Saurus warriors 20x (180p) Clubs Battalion sunclaw temple-host (130p) That brings me to 1530 points which leaves me with 470 points to play with My first thought is to bring in a slann with 5 guards to farm CP and cast some spells and the guards are there to protect the slann leaving me with 110 points but im not sure what i should do because of a problem that i have been trying to figure out for some time now That problem is figuring out if i want 2 blocks of 40 saurus or should i limit it to 1 block of 40 and two blocks of 20. My fear with 2 blocks of 40 is that i wont be able to buff both so one of them will be alot weaker then the other. but it also shields me from just losing if 1 of the blocks gets nuked. Having just 1 block of 40 frees more points but i will be more vulnerable to getting focused down So any input is appreciated
take a slan for the CP and to cast geminids i plan on having 3 blocks of 30 and bufing them as nesisery
Hmmmm Both of those are pretty good suggestions i think im leaning towards the lifeswarm but im not sure yet Just trying to think of what the biggest recurring threat to saurus warriors is. I feel like a block of 40 should be able to handle most things if they get into melee combat with a couple of buffs but i worry that i underestimate my opponents if i have that mindset
hence why i'm always going to run geminids -1 to hit and -1 to attacks are powerful debuffs espeshaly if you can hit multiple units. it just to bad they don't stack
Bring Aetherquartz as your second artefact for even more CPs. Getting a 4+ and 5+ roll for another CP every time the general uses one is nutty. I'd run hand of glory instead of tide of Serpents on the Starpriest, since It's easier to cast, and I'd probably take a starseer with the same instead of an Astrolith (Not really a fan of the Astrolith now outside of Kroaknado lists now; 6+ shrug is nice, but it's only 6 wounds and 140 points is a lot; I'd rather get almost anything else in the list with those points). Getting a re-rollable 3d6 for charges is pretty nice for such a slow army. Here's my take on a Sunclaw Koatl's Claw list: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/bt-2-0-koatls-claw-saurus.24325/ Currently leaning towards something like 2 salamanders and geminids for the last 240 points to help deal with things like OBR; dropping the starseer or starpriest for 20 more saurus is also under consideration. Probably just getting blocked away from objectives because they're slow, and faster heavy hitting units that can punch through their 4+ save, or massed 1 damage shooting, like CoS can put out with iron drakes, handgunners, or crossbows.. Petrifex Mortek Guard may be a tough match for them with the re-rollable saves and rend with single damage weapons and replenishing bodies. Buffed Saurus can take them down almost 1-1, so petrifex might be a non-issue, so the shooting is probably a bigger concern.
Ok so taking all this into account. It think im going to try this list next week when i get to play Lords Saurus oldblood (110p) General Command trait: Dominant predator Saurus scar-veteran (210p) Artifact of power: eviscerating blade Slann starmaster (260p) Aetherquartz broch Spell:???
