While BSB can have full mundane equipment, theres no need to give them armor when they are on a stegadon. As part of taking a Steg mount the character gains access to an armor (3+ normal, 2+) ancient. This can be used in CC and Shooting. As per the rules for stegs, this armor save cannot be improved in any way.

*note This also gives the skink priest on an engine a good way to survive. Weak as he is a 2+ armor save gives him some staying power.

The new banners aren't anything to write home about
none are over 50pts and Huanchi's totem works in movement phase now, however the plaque of dominion is quite interesting

and on that note the new Skaven pelt banner would be devastating on a stegadon (or ancient one) as it gives frenzy and can only be taken by a skink chief BSB. This accompanied by an ancient steg with war spear would be the ultimate line breaker!

You couldn't have the warspear and the skavenpelt banner on one cheif though... And as far as I know you can't have 2 chiefs on a steg.

no thats not the point. I meant to say that 2 stegs, one with banner and one with the spear would be an awesome force in any lizarman army. Im aware that you cant have magic weapons and a magic banner

Ahh I see. Yes, that would be a great force. But it would also be very expensive in points, and require two of your hero choices to be taken up, also the BSB. Think about it, what could withstand the force of 2 normal stegadons charging? I think you are getting a little bit into the overkill area.

LOL wats wrong with overkill :D

If you really want to break a line you take those two stegs with an oldblood on carnosaur with 8 S5 attacks( once the pendant kicks in) and 5 S7 attacks (once frenzy kicks in)

come to think of it what the hell could stand up to that?

maybe nurglish chosens with +1T could stand it, you only wound them on 5+ with your S5 attacks you know. :p

    Are nurgliche guys T6??
that's pretty good and are they immune to poison now ?
    yea 5+ if normal Stegs
but i was thinking ancient ones so S6, 4+
    Are nurgliche guys T6??
+ the carnosaur is now S7 :meh:
if they have the cloud of flies then it might be 5+ TO HIT for some of the units
    Are nurgliche guys T6??

+ How many chosen guys ? like unit wise? or are you talking other characters, cus really they are the only match for the old bloods (other than a vampire :rage:, i hates them! )

    +Are nurgliche guys T6??

nurgliche isn't normally T6 usually only T5("usually) but with eye of the gods that grants +1T they get T6, and that's ONE dice roll every turn!

at least they are T5-6 if they get +1T for mark of nurgle.

BUT! Nurgle is slow and sluggish, and i don't think there immune to poison. But you can always dart them to death if they aren't. :D

Like -1 to pursuit or Initiative wise ?

I cant believe they are T5 is that at an extra cost? (luckily my friends are too enthralled with Khorn to worry about more T)

The only problem with overkill is you are paying a lot of points for it, and effectively paying for not much more. What can 2 ancient stegs with skink chiefs and a carnosaur hero do that two stegs can't? Sure they have more wounds between them, so will be harder to kill, but besides that is is an extra 500 points (probably more) that will do no more damage on top of what the two naked stegs would do. Then you have 3 insane big models that will massacre anything in their path, big fire magnet or big thing to ignore/throw stubborn things at/march redirect, especially with your frenzy. If your opponent can't do that, you are killing a unit a turn while the rest of your army is much less than his, and may get defeated easily.

But aside from the logic, I have to admit that a carnosaur flanked by two crazed stegadons barelling down the middle of the battlefield would look AWESOME. :D My army will include 2 stegs and a carnosaur, but I will likely send the carnosaur off on his own, one of the stegs will have an engine for support for the army, and the other will maybe demolish a flank then try to flank the main battleline. We shall see when I start playing.

    LOl strewart

my freinds (and me included i suppose) have a philosophy of taking the meanest and biggest things in abundance and then trying to smash the opponents big stuff :bored:

yes i go to tournaments and play normal army lists , funny though I've been playing LM for 5 years and still haven't gone to a tournament with them

but the fun part about our games is its funny to see just how badly you can rip something apart

I have to say there is no such thing as overkill when it comes to dealing with units of 30 iron breakers

+ we usually play in the 5000pt brackets and usually team games so 20,000ts of nasty-pointed-growling-angry-great weapon toting- nasties

and if you want to know i usually play Tomb kings at tourneys :D

Heh, I was referring to 2k games which is the standard. If you are playing 5k, then hell yes take two bulked out ancient stegs and a carnosaur. You could even take 2 carnosaurs, one of them with the blade of realities for some nice monster killing fun. It would also leaving your opponent guessing about which carnosaur had which weapon until they hit. :p
