Blog Joshua's Paint Blog - Back from the dead!

I did it! I tried to speed paint something and I painted 6xOgors in 2 sessions. Just about 3-4 hours. Thats fast for me. The results arent too bad! I'll probably varnish then touch up the metal a little bit but they are fully painted!

I wanted to share my current set-up! It's not perfect, and disclaimer, I don't use an airbrush boothe(although I'm probably buying one). Recently bought those little black lights and they are a big upgrade! I only have 1 on. They have 3 light settings each.

Small painting updates as well. Boars basically 95% finished (still need to matt varnish) and all the remaining Ogres in my Mawtribe army are getting there! Putting a little more time into these guys, but not much, just some additional washes and quick glazes. Pretty happy with the skin so far. Look better in person too, you can see the effect of the glazes a little better.

I like your setup!

I was going to buy a paint rack just like that, but couldn't find one that I liked... so I made one!

I'm coming back to my blog and getting back into painting. It's been awhile and a lot has happened in my life but I'm excited to be painting again and hope to share it with you! Here's a little teaser for my latest project.

I've always had my eye on nurgle. I like the models and painting flesh. I've also recently been pushing myself to learn new techniques. I've been using a ton of Oil paints and I'm in love. Nurgle and oil paints are a match made in heaven.

I also always challenge myself to create original paint schemes. Here are my test models and first units of my Nurgle army. I wanted a cold, snowy nurgle army and I plan to put all these on snowy bases. These are not complete. I'm batch painting the entire start collecting box. I have to matt varnish them, then highlight metals and add some more technical paint and gloss varnish to certain parts.

Here are some WIP pictures. I totally made this up as I was going and just did a bunch of random things until i found something I liked. It was challenging, and at times frustrating, but I learned a ton.

This big fly model is an example of me experimenting. I did a quick airbrush of tones and then just went crazy with oil washes, then the 2nd and 3rd pics are after I went back to airbrush. To finish it, i'll gloss varnish and do more control oil washes.

Lastly working on some super simple and fast Plaguemonk paint schemes. Let me know which one you like! (number 1 is as finished as the 2nd and 3rd but I think I'm going to use something similar to it for all 40)
