Contest July-August Short Story Contest

Much fluff to write... D:

I know, right?

I did a quick review recently and I have:
  • 1 unstarted art comp entry
  • 2 uncompleted collaboration type stories
  • 1 uncompleted non-comp short story
  • 1 uncompleted cartoon series
  • 1 uncompleted novel / novelette
  • 1 semi-completed novella that I want to illustrate, revise and extend
  • 5 planned and sort of mapped out novel / novelettes
  • 3 not very planned but necessary novel / novelettes (one of which has wood elves :vomit:) Actually one has dark elves, too :vomit::vomit:. The last one has some lizardmen)
  • A little bit of real life
No wonder I'm not painting models these days.

I hope to post one of the above in the next few days. Wish me luck.

Let's see:
  • Finish entry for this compy
  • Write a piece for the Moulder Pitfighters campaign
  • Make a second part of the adventures of Tox
  • Write something else for the very dead Skaven Writing Challenge
  • Finish a flashback scene for the previous Skaven writing Challenge dealing with Moriskit
  • Write at least another part of The Rat and the Bull
  • Try and write the other half of a short novel
  • Create the history and background for a UE Underdark campaign that might not even happen
  • Create a slew of NPCs for said campaign
  • Finish my main Skaven fluff
  • Restart Three Rats in a Boat
  • Create more history, folklore, and background to pass to my GM about my character's homeland in our ongoing game as we inevitably draw closer to Sikaar.
  • Kill Whizz-Bang
  • Write another short with Felrix
  • Work out how to alter the plot after the last big revelation in my Only War rpg
  • Oh and RL :P
Mayhaps not to your scale of a to-do list, Bob. But it's quite the list of little bitty things. :P

A semi-silly question.
one week ago (july the 13th) i sent a PM to @Scalenex with my short story, asking for his usual proofreading.
No answer 'til now, and, most of all, the last post in the forum by our lovely Keeper of the Indexes, was made (AFAIK) in this thread, on july 9th.

Do you have some news?
Should we be worried, or it's nothing serious?

Work is busy and I found an addictive computer game, and I had a short lived case of the sniffles, and I'm kind of sort of trying to last minute complete my entry for the Golden Serpent. Also I've spent time working on two of my long standing WIP fluff pieces.

-A newish piece dealing with another unorthodox spawning in Klodorex and the Dark Elf he will end up crossing swords with.
-A sequel to New Alliances continuing the relationship between the Southlands Lizardmen and the Dwarfs of Karak Zorn
-What may be the crown jewel of Scalenex fluff. The Chronicles of Witch Hunter Verrick
-i have a short story idea that I haven't written one word on yet, I'm hoping someone will come up with a contest theme it will fit into one day.
-I still have some notes and partially written drafts for the Scalenex version of the End Times. Not sure if I'll get around to it because 1) my timing is bad and 2) if I ever do the Scalenex End Times I will feel semi-obligated to not write any old Warhammer fan fiction again and I really don't care for Age of Sigmar.
-I kind of want to get back to non-fan fic fiction. I haven't written for the other Klodorex in a years and I want to work on Scarterra more.

Everyone else listed their WIP, that's mine. Verrick and the new Alliances sequels were the two I actually wrote stuff for this month though.

I am behind on my proofreading though. I got five authors' drafts sent to me so far. Won't be a record breaking contest, but we got a strong batch of entries.

Fist of all, I'm happy there was nothing to be worried! ;)

You can bribe me. :p

What game?

Haven't been online as much as usual. We have six entries. I proof read two of them. I will try to to hit them all in the next 48 hours, except Y'tarr there's really never anything in your pieces to change and you usually submit your piece barely before the submission deadline. Don't worry, you are still last of the the six. Not a whole lot of editing to do, you guys are pretty polished these days.

If trends continue like the previous contests, I'm predicting seven or eight entries, but six isn't bad. I know it's not double digits, but as long as the entries continue to be of high quality I'm not going to bemoan "low" turnout. Still about two hours of reading pleasure I'd say.

Heheh...I kinda write my entries over the space of several days in bits and pieces, then leave it for maybe a week and go back over it again. Then I leave it a while to clear my head-meat and then proof read it a couple times. That and Starbound released recently...so i've been battling that addiction. :P

I will get all of the fossils! :P

We are up to seven entries. 4 tend to push the envelope with the new 2400 word count limit. 3 are around 1000 words. I noticed some intriguing similarities between disparate writers but I will hold off on the commentary till everyone reads every piece (or at least has the opportunity to read every piece)

We are looking at 2 votes per person right now. If we get two more entries, 3 votes per person.

Woho! More entrys! And I must say that I am very happy that I don't have to vote for only one pice. Phew. ;)

Two last minute entries pushes up to nine so that's three votes per person. Slightly more work for me but three votes per person now. Should it have everything together and cleaned up fairly soon.

*sigh* I missed this deadline I'm afraid. I'll throw my piece up in my own thread at another time. Best of luck to all the contestants!
