All very good and valid points, still I dislike them so much that all of those points don't add up to anything noteworthy on my hate-scale, even though I know it's very irrational. Also I don't like ANY insects, so I can't help but wanting to do the same as Nightbringer if I could: And furthermore I would love to do it to all insects, but damn the world in this instance, as that would throw nature out of whack (apart from Mosquitos I've heard, so at least annihilate those). Maybe one could get away with a small subset of insects at a time, to let nature adjust, and in time all could be gone - oh what a lovely dream.
Obviously we can't rid of major pollinators like Honey Bees. I'd say that the top three to get rid of are: spiders, mosquitoes and wasps/hornets. With centipedes not far behind.
I was curious, so I queried my favorite search engine. Wasps do pollinate stuff. A single wasp is less efficient at pollination than a single honey bee, but there are more wasps than honey bees so they pollinate about as much as honey bees. I still hate wasps. Centipedes are gross, but they are very efficient predators. As a teenager my parents let me have the whole basement as my private man cave, boy cave, so I allowed centipedes to live provided they stayed away from my bedroom.
Wasps and hornets also kill honey bees, so getting rid of them would likely boost the honey bee population. Also, the overwhelming majority of our food is pollinated by bees.
