Because no one is actually laughing out loud. Usually at best "LOL" it means chuckling quietly. More often, it means grinning silently. Sometimes it just means "I am mildly amusing but emoting nothing outwardly."
THIS. Seriously, there aren't enough likes in the world for this. I like seeing Christmas stuff... starting on, say, the last Saturday in November... but there are THREE holidays at the end of the year, NOT JUST CHRISTMAS! It isn't "Thankswinterhalloweenmas," no matter what has been said in the past.
In my neighborhood I would say 15% make extensive holiday decorations. 30% make mild holiday decorations, and 50% do basically nothing decoration wise (yo!). I would note that the people who go all-out on holiday decorations pick up their decorations very quickly. On November 2nd what once an elaborate Halloween graveyard with Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, and Corpse Bride decor is now a a bunch of reindeer and snowmen. I don't have a problem with this or anyone else who puts their Christmas decorations up early. It's the people who leave their decorations up a very long time after the holiday that annoy me. The people who put up mild decorations tend to do this. My mom never liked to throw away her jack-O-lanterns (she is very good to her credit) but you got to throw away eventually or they will get very gross very fast. I threw away a pumpkin in December. Grossest thing I ever touched with my hands.
