I really want to say something about this, but... it is probably right. Lately our news has been... well... and I'm not talking the newscasters or newsfeed, just all of the crap that has been happening here...
I am reading the book at the moment and want to finish it before it is spoiled by the series. Grrr, Imrahil
If I'm not mistaken, Amazon doesn't have the rights to the Silmarillion, they have the rights to the appendices to the Silmarillion which loosely fill in the gap of time between the end of the Silmarillion and the beginning of The Hobbit. Melkor was the Big Bad of the Silmarillion and Sauron was his chief lieutenant, but Melkor had a lot of powerful minions so he didn't rely on Sauron. Essentially, after Melkor was defeated, Sauron took over what was left of Melkor's evil empire which was a tiny fraction of what Melkor had at his peak.
Why watch it at all? You know it's going to suck. Or at the very least, wait for a few a reviews to verify that it does not suck before watching it. Or of course you can always never give Amazon a penny because of Jeff Bezos licks the boots of the CCP.
