The first half of the song is pretty reasonable. Especially, "I would buy you a house". I looked it up online, the song came out in December of 1992. According to the Consumer Price Index, it'd be worth about 2.3 million now. That said, I think in 2024, I believe the CPI is understating real inflation, when you factor in the changes to basic necessities such as food, housing, and Warhammer miniatures, so it'd be at least 3 million. I haven't bought many new models in the last few years so I can afford some fancy ketchups. I think this is the direction for a modern "If I had a million dollars" rewrite with more modest goals.
