It's a good book and has some good points but it is a thinly veiled political manifesto disguised as a sci-fi novel. The director of the film wanted to make an anti fascism movie and used the book as a skin suit to make one. It's why "federal service" is only military service whereas in the book it could be just about anything and not merely military. It also wasn't correct with races as Rico wasn't white( European decent) but actually was Filipino, originally named Juan Rico and nicknamed Johnny. Lots of little things to make the directors point but I digress. Dizzy was a definite improvement.
