I don’t mind them at all, I just find my bug catcher to be a more precise and efficient tool for catching them in.
For me it is the fear of hurting the bugs/spiders. I catch some of the bigger or sturdy ones (there is a species of small black bugs here, you can hardly destroy them with your bare fingers if you try, magnificent little creatures) with a with my hand, but mostly I avoid touching them in order to not damage their legs/antennae/wings etc.
My son got a bearded dragon for Christmas, they eat spiders but luckily he won't pick them up and I won't feed them to it, I don't mind it eating crickets but not spiders.
Oh yes, any spider that's int the house will be hunted down (though not by me necessarily, depending on the size I will get my "hired" muscle to handle that). I haven't actually seen Lucas the Spider, sure it is not as terrifying as a real one, but it's still a spider, so it's a no go for me, and I agree with NIGHTBRINGER here
