It's something like the more complicated and "special edition" the flavours are, the more they want them. Think about the gingerbread flavour at Christmas! There's practically mobs of women going after them.
I think it's along the same line as a new design handbag, so they must have it (even though they have plenty). They've got some serious brains in the Starbucks marketing unit.

Yep! I had this realization as I was looking at my wife buying yet ANOTHER handbag and was sniggering to myself and realized that earlier that day I'd bought a Firebelly which I have absolutely no use for and was bidding on a Thundertusk which I also didn't need as I already have one...
Was a sobering moment.
