Maybe some sort of tornado/wind vortex? How you execute that is anyone's guess, though. Maybe a bent out of shape spring, with a little bit of mist/dust texture, like some strands from cotton wool.

PS. Your saurus are amazing. AMAZING! I'm digging the stylized eye on the shields.

Thx :) They are meant to be like markings of one unit.. each unit has a different mark on their shields :) Also why they are not all done exactly alike.. they are afterall painted on by a skink :P

And a new update... decided to work a bit on the slann for once.. :) Hope u like it.. the Skink has not gotten his full equipment + there is going to be a priest looking skink in the back of the base aswell.. sortof like his small bodyguard and his priest helper going along with him :)

Promised to make some WIP when i was doing my next bases..

The slann base.. after i finished sculpting.. flocked the base and coated everything black..

Now i have been doing the first layer of color.. stones have first layer of fortress gray + Kommando Kakhi mix.. and flock has been dryed with mournfang brown and Gretchin Green (old name).

Next will be drybrush with green + mud wash and nuln oil on the stones..

Sounds like a pretty good plan,
but you might want to vary your stone colors a little,
for a more realistic look, very few real stones are flat grey.

New update... Base is nearly done.. stones have been washed brown and black.. and highlighted a bit.. Vines have gotten a green på black wash.. i dont want to make them too bright.. because Kai'Tzatl and the spawning pools are not in the green parts of the jungle.. :) Flock has had a green dry brush.. + a brown again to dose down the colors just a bit :)

Hope u are liking the look so far.. All i need now is the Tuffs.. + the 2 skinks with their yellow and green skin.. to break all the stone / dark colors.. painting one of them atm.. an already now i can see what a huge impact they have :)

The skink bodyguard look alike.. :) Almost done.. i know the one eye looks weird.. ill try to fix it later.. the skin needs a yellow glaze.. but other than that.. kinda happy with the result of my conversions to a normal skink.. with the feathers and the shield.. :) looks sortof okay :) now i need to look at the "priest skink".. the slann helper :P

Wow, you're getting it done quickly. Nice simple conversions. The shield looks brutal. A final highlight on the tips of the scales might look good.

Due to some time off and not having the urge for painting i have been away for a while.. Now im back and hopefully ill have the time and motivation to paint a bit again.. ive decided to look at my Cold ones.. Any of you have an idea for colors for them.. My saurus are as you know Yellow and Green.. and my Stegadon is going to be dark red/red..

Any ideas?..

Hmmmm the paint looks nice on them, but if your Saurus are already Yellow and Green then purple and red are the opposing colors you could be using :) You might be able to push purple to a blue if you don't want to use it and then go from red to orange instead.. It's actually close to the color scheme I am going to be using on my army.. heres a pic that I like for the color scheme:

There are hints of orange in this, but obviously you would be using a little darker of a blue and more orange instead of yellow :) Just an idea!

edit: or you could even reverse the colors from the picture, have the blue underside/bottom half and the orange scales

hmmmm weird, the link didn't change or anything, I wonder why it wasn't working.. There, I loaded the pic somewhere else. That one should be fine :)

I think that scheme could definitely work, but it might be easier to tell if you had an extra photo with the rider mounted on the cold one.

Sidenote: I can't see any of your pictures Kirk.

Really liking the slann base and the extra skink attendants. Keep up the good work. You're making good progress.
