I am looking to convert the frilly khorne dogs into razordons, I think the paint job and basing will go a long way to helping, but looking on advice on other changes to make them passable I've cut off the chaos symbols and added some spikes and a club tail but looking for any other advice from people that have done the same or similar
Can you post some WIP pics? I am sure some of the great sculptors here can give you advice how to improve your work.
I will wverntuakky do the same thing (been put low on my to do list though) The chaos hounds are the best option for converting I think, as you’ve said - trim off the bits you don’t want and simply add spikes maybe adjust some of their poses and increase the size/shapenof the tails to have more of a scorpion feel (over the head) so they can fling their payload etc, if you are feeling fancy maybe add a few lizardy glyphs too.
Some example pics off google (warseer link doesn't work, but here are the pics). Chaos hounts, counts as salamanders. Doing a quick search through the forum, and @Stormfrog has done this exact conversion (link to his page): Our own @n810 has some great counts-as salamanders, but I am not sure where they are from. Similiar to the chaos hounds though: Also here is a really cool looking model from the Hell Dorado line of miniatures that could also work as a salamander: Me personally I am hoping to purchase at least one of these beasties (sailback) from Frostgrave: Archipelago and have him stand in for a salamander: Two more links along similar lines: Sources of Models for conversions Salamanders on a budget
They are Rage Drakes from D&D minis range. I added the sail and painted them green , They where originally red. "Me personally I am hoping to purchase at least one of these beasties (sailback) from Frostgrave: Archipelago and have him stand in for a salamander:" <- These are my new favorites.
