personally, i'm incredibally excited about getting my old Kroxigor back.

i know that i am for sure going to run a block of 8 (2 ranks of 4) or maby 9. o only have nine otherwise i would seriously consider a hoard of them.

i know that i am really going to miss the old skink Kroxigor skirmish screen formation that i used to use all the time 2 editions ago, when i played regularly. but i seriously think that they are one of our best options again for both mass murder and eating armor and monsters.
seriously, S4 Kroxigors was what i hated most about the last edition. i'm super excited to get my S7 back.

only first rank gets to stomp right?

i never ran the skroxigor units. i never will, skinks die too easily and the kroxigor killyness never made up for the skink squishiness. and with the new rules, they don't even protect the Kroxigor any more.

it is really tempting to run a hoard of Kroxigor with a BSB frenzyBanner sarus on a cold one joining them.

can a Sarus on a Carnasaur join units anymore???

Yes only first rank gets stomp.
No a Saurus on carno cannot join any units since monsters cannot join units.

Shieldwolf Miniatures released their biggies for their game, should work really nice for alternative Kroxigors or Fimirs I think.
Really like what they've done :jimlad:

Lots of good banter going on here love it.

I have a fiend who plays ogres and I've always been wondering how a block of Krox would do against his bulls or ironguts. also I think a good 4x2 against mournfang would do well I think im going to test this out and i'll post how it pans out.

I love kroxigors tried a crazy setup with them 18 kroxigors horde formation joined up by slann as BSB with lore of life and flaming macig banner charge in with the kroxigors maximise units in combat and your slann is never in base contact with anything unless your flanked but having ld9 reroll and if lucky having spells like +2 toughness and regrowth they walk through anything used this agains vampire counts and warriors of chaos and it is absolutely fantastic

The problem is, that one unit costs half the points for your entire army!

Putting the flaming banner on a 1000pts unit is risky. A single daemon prince (or other tank character) with a 2+ ward vs flaming will neutralize the entire unit for the duration of the game.

I'd love to see a krox-star unit like that though. Must be a sight to behold.

If there is a 2++ flame ward you can always get your slann to leave the unit, or if you have high magic, unforge that s*** and scare the crap outta them
and +1 for that many Krox ggrrrrr

Problem is that I don't think the slann can leave the unit once it is locked in combat. Unforging could work, but your opponent will know this. Also, you can't cast it into close combat. So once that Daemon Prince flies in, your krox are stuck for the game.

So Kroxigor death stars aside, has anyone been trying them out? How successful how have they been?

I'm looking at dropping my Badtiladon and reducing the size of the Temple Guard in order to fit 4 in, but I really feel that they'll work in sizes of 5 or 6. Can anyone share any experience on this?

I tried running 4, and it didn't work for me. I tried running 6, and kept feeding points to my opponents from being run down. I am now running 9, and the psychological impact on the game alone is causing my opponents problems. Have yet to give up those points, and I feel like I found the real sweet spot at 450 points. =) They've killed unkillable demon princes, blocks of chaos warriors, blocks of phoenix guard, and more knights than I can count. They've also spent entire matches being redirected by eagles.

    Hope that helps!

I played early on with a unit of 6 and they did fairly well. Unfortunately my current list doesn't have them because I am unable to get them painted in time for my next big tournament (The Alamo in San Antonio ,TX).

The list that had them originally looked something like this:

OldBlood on Cold One with items and a great weapon
Vet BSB on Cold One with items and a great weapon

2 Lvl 2 Skink Priests , Lore of Beasts

    Big Block of Saurus
    3 skink skirmish units

    8 Cold Ones
    6 Kroxigors
    Bastiladon

and other stuff.... at least one stegadon, some salamanders? I really can't recall.

My goal in the list was to have a bunch of high strength attacks. Lizardmen don't hit very often, so when they do I want to make it count! Str 7 scares almost everything in the warhammer world and I think is a good answer to a lot of the high armor MC running around today, you just have to make sure you don't go head on into some of those units. With skinks, terradons and salamanders running around you should be able to get yourself into a favorable position to flank with the Krox and do some serious damage.

I find they can be absolutely brutal as an alternative to combat lords, for when you want a Slann but also want something that can hit hard. A buffed Kroxigor champion can hold its own against most characters in a challenge, and his buddies are great at softening up units. This doubles as a great cheap defense for a lone Slann, as well a brutal flanking unit, anti-monster, anti-character or even redirecting unit. They're fat, maneuverable and (relatively) cheap.

I love my Kroxigor trio. I'm actually tempted to name them now, so they can be more fitting guardians for high mage-priest Huaxma'bolzak when I don't want TG for whatever reason.

If I had 83 bucks lying around I'd grab another unit in a heartbeat.

I just wanted to put it out there that the term kroxigor love would mean something utterly different if posted in the fluff section.
