There's always a risk of that... but Kroxigor are definitely not overpowered and the precedence has already been set by Ogre Kingdoms.

We are not Ogre kingdoms, we have a lot more versatility. The main drawback of playing ogres is that you have only a few models, the infantry you can choose is terrible (Gnoblars). If you look at it from this perspective, why would you even play Ogres if you can play a more versatile and well rounded army that also has unlimited monstrous infantry?

It seems that if you look at it from that perspective, you drown out another army, and thus you might make the LM army to powerfull from a tactical perspective and especially from a versatility perspective

Monstrous infantry core is the niche of Ogre Kingdoms. However, WoC with Throgg thrown in the mix can take trolls as core.

WoC are already far more powerful than we are, and trolls are significantly better than Kroxigor. So it might be able to work well for us without being overpowered or too versatile.

Nope, all ogre list are still better.

Perhaps, the next book will have Nakai (Kroxigor hero)
that will allow us to take one unit of Kroxigor as core.
like Kroq-Gar used to go for CoC.

    probably just better than us,
but almost as good as WoC.

    Fair enough.

Nakai would be an awesome inclusion. I would be extremely happy to see him make it into an army book. At this point (9th edition rumours), I'd be extremely happy just knowing that we might still get another army book.

Nakai would indeed be awesome to have, i love the idea of that special character. It would be hard to balance him, how do you have a single Krok that is not overpowered or underpowered but can yet survive by himself? Maybe he should give some buff or debuff while he had good protection from shooting and magi, while he himself is not extremely strong in CC(at least for his points). Just and idea.

In his old white dwarf rules, he would roll to see if he would emerge from a piece of terrain every turn.
(and his stats where pretty good.)

I figure that WoC Throgg would be a good template to consider as a base for Nakai.

I have those rules. He was able to charge in the turn which he appeared!!

    His stats were...
    M6 WS5 BS0 S6 T5 W4 I3 A6 Ld8

    3+ Scaly Skin
    5+ Ward

Wow, did he have actual stats? I thought he just existed in the fluff! Do you have a screenshot or a link of his rules, or are they completely unusable on this point?

I wish they would bring him back. He was never fully official but with each new edition I hoped that he would be added to the army book. Instead we got such gems as Chakax, Tiqtaq'to and Oxyotl :shifty::shifty::shifty:

I voted 'always' since they are always in my lists now anyway.

If the rumors are true, we'll have Unbound as an option soon, so we'll be able to sort of do this legally.

    I really hope that is untrue. That's a deal-breaker for 9th edition.

I think it would be great. Just means you have to find like-minded opponents.

For me, it would let me build an all-construct TK army finally. Fun!

I just worry that it is a system that is so easily broken.

If fantasy goes unbound I think you would see everybody using a comp system like swedish or ETC. Straight unbound would be horrible

If ETC got used, it would just show how ignorant many gamers are. ETC is not a general comp system. It's a new set of Warhammer rules designed to govern a specific type of event.

If any other comp system got adopted, I'd be done with Warhammer.

Unbound works. You just have to play with non-dicks.
