Maybe. The time doesn't really matter. If you assume that the forum will not get shut down or the thread will be closed, then it doesn't matter how long your post is the last one, you can never win. And if you assume the contrary (everything ends at some time) then your best bet is to always post whenever someone else posts, OR try to anticipate the end. You might also not post at all and hope that the thread goes to sleep, and then wait for a time. People will forget it ever existed. And then at some point you post, and you will eventually win when...something happens. So many options.... ...and all of them are utterly pointless.
You can never truly win perhaps. I'll compare it to a UFC fight, you can't win by submission or KO. Holding the lead for the longest time would be something akin to winning by decision. If the forum shuts down, then I guess it doesn't really matter. If the thread is locked, then no one can really claim victory (I call shenanigans). Using my earlier UFC analogy, that would be like a no contest for being busted for performance enhancing drugs. This is true. Although it can be fun at times. Plus it give me a thread to post more random stuff... even more random than usual.
I think the best thing about this thread is that we can use it as some form of general chat, not bound to any user or topic. It also allows new users to make a few posts so they can overcome the anti-spambot post minimums.
Lol we could win this by just debating about the nature of this contest for years till nobody uses this forum except for us and the competition is forgotten. Lol
Hey so I know you can get titles like well known member and member and such but how do you get fancy titles such as Killer Angels prophet of the stars.
Moderators can give themselves fancy titles. In addition, those of us that have earned the rank of "Slann" (5000 posts) carry the title [#] Spawning, where # relates to the order in which members achieved the mark. For instance, I was the second member to reach 5000 posts, so I carry the title Second Spawning.
