As promised, I am posting a first part of „conversion report“. I have planned to take a shot of every step of creating more dynamic pose for skinks but, you know, I started cutting and drilling and totally forgot to take photos, so this won’t be a step-by-step report... But I will try to explain as much as I can ;)

This is a current state of the conversion.

I wanted him to have both feet in the air, so I took two skinks (one with right and one with left foot unattached to the base). I cut right leg from both of them, then drilled holes for pins.
(Detail of the leg glued together. Pin inside ;) )

(This is a leftover skink body and leg. I am going to use it to make a regular skink)

Then I drilled a hole through the body (shoulders). And added another pin.

After that, I took the „Brave Sword Arm“, cut off the sword and fingers and the shoulder. And the drilling came once again.
(The arm and body are joined with the pin, shoulder will be greenstuffed later.)

(This pin is really important – it will fix the skink with base.)

The base (or better the stone) is made from styrofoam. Nothing special.

Thats all for now. I hope the rest will come soon.

C&C welcome.

Awesome and inspiring work! That will be a very dynamic pose.

Again, great work. :smug:

Awesome, this guy is going to look great!

i would so have the priest in the ring in EOTG that would be awesome other thing is green putty hard to use and now for some more flattery
i wish i was as good as you i tried your conversion

really loving all your conversion work, is really inspiring.

Keep up the good work.

Yeah I've seen his stuff on Warseer, a lot more than just LM too. It really is amazing. I'm pretty sure he sculpted a couple of the big monsters for Maelstrom's line of minis.

Yes, he did. And thanx to people like him i am getting more and more encoraged for sculpting something myself :) (But I am still not encouraged enough :))

yeah that guy is pretty insane i wonder how much it would be to get his army
also wow this websites nice ogre stronghold is tough

It has been some time since I posted for the last time. I've been to Sweden for whole spring semester and my army was really far away. But now I am back home and hopefully I'll get some of models finished. That jumping skink is almost finished, so some pictures will come soon. But what is more important I am seriously reconsidering a paint scheme for my sauri. I am quite satisfied with "ice blue" skinks but my blue and black sauri simply don't work.
Just a picture for example:

And this is what I came up with lately (still need to finish his shield and halberd):

SV400739.jpg
SV400738.jpg

What do you guys think?

btw. it's codex grey basecoat, black wash and than grey and white drybrush for the skin and grey and ice blue drybrush for scales...

I like the skintone! It looks a lot better than what I'm planning for my TG. What I would suggest is putting some kind of wash or shade on the bone. It almost gets lost on top of the skin color.

Thanks dictator, now I see it (used a better light to look at it properly :D) I used to much of white drybrush on bone :shamefullyembarrased: Have to be more carefull next time. And probably take your advice and use wash... Hope gryphone sepia will do the trick :)

i checked through the entire thread (for the first time) an i must say i really love your dynamic skink conversions. I have been thinking about doing something similar, and this was really inspiring :)

as some constructive criticism i will have to say that your bases could use some more work to make them cooler. you have the right idea with the TG base, but some grass or something would really make it pop :)

@Lord Tsunami: Thanks. Glad to hear that I am inspiring :D I have the material for bases, I am just too lazy to finish it ;) TG bases will definitely get some grass into the cracks and for the rest of model I am planning to use some mixture of grass and sand plus these plastic plants from aquariums. I sort of want to have all models I use in game painted and then I will base them all (so the style would be similar).

As you can see, the EotG is "interactive". I used pins and magnets so i can alter the alignement of the device according to the active special ability during the game. I'll probably post some detail shots soon, so you can see how exactly it works ;)

I think this is my favourite conversion ever. Have you done any more on it?

Unfortunately not. I've been quite busy since I made that one and lacking motivation to do it.. But soon, soon. I have to get to that one again ;) Thank you for kind words too ;)

That is awesome looking. And you say it has a function? Wow! That is super awesome. If you plan tto take your time finishing it, tell us how it work for the time being. I can't wait till it's done!

Well done! the colours are great, i love the musician, the scar vet/oldblood is cool too, im making a couple right now myself :smug:

So, I signed up for September/October painting challenge/competition with my Slann. I guess it's not against rules to let you see my progress on that little guy :)

Haven't started working on the Slann itself yet but I am really thinking about these colors:

The big snake on the palanquin needs some work, the ones on the base are more or less finished. I'll put some static grass into the spooks on the base.
