Yeah, it's a bi-product of Army Painter dip. They don't looks as glossy when they are on the table, and I think the camera flash really emphasizes it.
For Lizardmen, the 'wet-look', though not for everyone, is passable IMHO. I have seen it on some Empire armies and high elves, and it feels even more out of place and bizarre.
The best thing is that it took about two hours to finish the full steg and crew, and I can do a unit in a night.
Doing full detailed 'eavy metal style layering and shading always looks better, just takes much more time and dedication.
One day I will get all the painted stuff grouped up on the table to see how the army looks at a distance shot.
