Hello boys and girls and welcome to Let's Get Motivated - July 2024

This thread is too get us motivated each month into finishing projects that we have on the go, the rules are fairly simple.

At the start of the month post what you intend to try and finish this month, it can be models/terrain/conversions of any game type. No pressure if you don't finish anything this is for motivation nothing else.

Around the middle of the month post your progress, no images please, if you have want to share your progress with images, upload them into your blog and supply a link.

Around the end of the month post your progress, again no images, if you have finished a piece upload the images into your blog and supply a link.

The reason I don't want images in this thread is too get everyone that takes part views in their personal blog where the community can critique, etc.

You don't have a paint blog? well get one started in this forum section.

If you need advice etc. post here and the community will try and answer.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone share their progress

Paint infantry teams for FOW
Basecoat few FOW vehicles
Glue and base all remnants of Bolt Action germans
Possibly paint panzer III for Bolt Action

Paint a minimum of three sci-fi soldiers made to look like Brotherhood of Nod light infantry. More is optional, but as I do not know how quickly I can paint such, I'm going for a realistic goal.

- paint 10 Uruk-hai Scouts
- paint the silver units of the Necropolis faction (HoMM3 Boardgame)

- tile the rest of my Minas Tirith board

- write a story for the current Short-story contest

I've built and primed over a hundred miniatures and necessary shields. PHEW.

First third of the month update

Paint 8 urukhai crossbows
Paint those three flyers from hunters of huachi box - about 75% done
Paint infantry teams for FOW - started working on rifle platoon
Basecoat few FOW vehicles - couple done, couple primed
Glue and base all remnants of Bolt Action germans - 56 out of 76 + new weapon teams done
Possibly paint panzer III for Bolt Action - varnish, wash, drybrush and varnish to be done

Paint my pinup girl lizardman model - Done

Paint my sci-fi lizardman conquistador conversion - Not even primed

Paint 10 miscellaneous/RPG models - Painted 1, primed 3 others

Paint a minimum of three sci-fi soldiers made to look like Brotherhood of Nod light infantry - Painted one, primed 3 others; decided to go simple with the colouring, except for experimenting with red camo. Should manage all even with the extra tagalong.

Stare menacingly at the grey hordes with silent promise of forcing colour upon them - Regressed, they have started mocking me, claiming that they shall remain grey evermore (no, I'm not insane, why do you ask?)

Going slowly... weather has not cooperated, and I have to prime outside. Can't do that when it decides to rain on me. I blame Tzeentch, he strikes me as petty enough to ruin my efforts. Took advantage of a clear moment in the the weather to prime a few rather than my preferred method of only priming the next on the rota. Which because of this lack of cooperation, new goal: PRIME ALL OF THEM NEXT AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITY!

Because I am self-conscious, and my camera quality is terrible with no skill on my end to make up for it Despite saying that first one is done, it still hasn't been varnished, so it's technically still under scrutiny to see if my lackluster skills can actually improve it further; though it could be me being my own worst critic, but to my eyes, its very... But I suppose

I may start a blog at some point. We'll see at the end of the month.

Day 20 Update:

Paint my pinup girl lizardman model - Done

Paint my sci-fi lizardman conquistador conversion - Not even primed

Paint 10 miscellaneous/RPG models - Painted 6

Paint a minimum of three sci-fi soldiers made to look like Brotherhood of Nod light infantry - Done with one extra, realised after I'd done them that of the four that I grabbed? Only one was wearing the Nod helmet, so they mostly just look like dark coloured Cadians with red camo... Whoops.

Stare menacingly at the grey hordes with silent promise of forcing colour upon them - Regressed further, I now hear them whispering in the night, giggling at how they shall remain grey forevermore... Ooh, these gentlemen have a rather fashionable jacket for me with extra long arms


Heedless to say, as the heatwave hits me and I feel a lack of energy to do anything physical, I'll be most likely finishing up the last five minis during the next week. Baring any migraines.

Paint those three flyers from hunters of huachi box
Paint infantry teams for FOW - started working on rifle platoon
Basecoat few FOW vehicles - couple done, couple primed, couple decaled
Glue and base all remnants of Bolt Action germans - done and large portion also primed
Possibly paint panzer III for Bolt Action -wash, drybrush and final varnish to be done

As a bonus, I have Bolt Action Panther and Stug III in same stage as Panzer III

Final Verdict:

Done it all, baring my menacing stare. However, I feel for next month, I should scale back my goal a touch. Instead of the fifteen I originally set myself, l will likely set it to ten models, and then any spare time in the month after managing that can be spent on extra bonus goodness.

This Link goes to a blog for terrible pictures once I've taken those actual terrible pictures. That way JTSleep can laugh at my NOD soldiers and comment on how I could have done better...
