Make your Steg an Ancient Stegadon (S6 over S5 will make a difference on your Impact Hits and Thunderstomp). Give your Scar Veteran a Cold One. Try to squeeze in another Scar Veteran for the Temple Guard unit to make it a real tough nut (as they will already be -1 to hit and Unbreakable due to Kroak)
I added an extra Scar Vet with the points to join the Temple Guard unit. I really don't have the extra points for an Anicent Stegadon. The other Scar Vet on a cold one. Up to you. I personally would spend the points. If you're investing in a Steg then you'll want it to be the best possible. Especially if going up against heavily armoured troops. You'd be surprised the difference -2 and -3 makes. Armour Piercing rule? Are you playing some other edition than 8th? I think scrap one unit of Chamo Skinks and get your Ancient Steg. As always up to you. I always defer to the Ancient as the additional attacks that the Baby Steg gets are a bit wasted in my opinion due to the low WS. I try to maximize the Thunderstomp and Impact Hits damage with the S6. Plus it has a better armour save which will help you stay alive longer. Those are my thoughts. Main thing is: Have some fun with your friends!
The game was changed to next week due to the snow. 8th Edition for sure. You don't recommended armor piecing rule?
Weapon Skill are both the same in my rule book. Both are listed at 3? Stegadon has 4 attacks and the Ancient only 3. Ancient strength is 6 compared to 5.
I'm not sure what rule you're referring to. Unless you put a BSB with the Saurus unit and gave them the Razor Banner, then I don't know how you can give them Armour Piercing rule... Sorry should have been clearer. I always do Ancient Steg over Baby Steg as they both have WS 3 and so, to me and in my experience, 3 and 4 attacks are the same difference. I prefer to have the S6 Impact hits and Thunderstomp which hit automatically.
